Introduction: Liz Oliner is a native New Yorker who moved to the west coast after law school, and now lives in San Francisco. Liz has a B.A. in english literature from Yale and a J.D. from Yeshiva University’s Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. She is an expert at navigating the USPTO, and has helped hundreds of small businesses and entrepreneurs register federal trademarks and protect their brands. She also frequently helps draft and respond to cease-and-desist letters, social media take-down notices, and DMCA take-down notices. She also has experience with copyright law, internet terms of service and privacy policies, as well with corporate formation and employment questions for small businesses and startups. While in law school, Liz interned in the intellectual property and trademark department at Estee Lauder. Before becoming a lawyer, Liz worked both in commercial real estate and as a journalist at CBS News, where she participated in research and investigations for news stories on the CBS Early Show and 48 Hours Investigates. Liz enjoys meeting clients from all different industries, and particularly enjoys working with emerging companies, technology startups, and social media companies (her husband has his own Bay Area startup, and their wedding was featured as a “social media” event in various press outlets). In her free time, Liz cycles, goes to spin and yoga classes, skis, and runs (She has run 8 marathons!). She is a Silicon Valley based trademark and IP lawyer.
