Introduction: Leah holds her B.M. in cello performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music where she studied with cellist Darrett Adkins and her M.M. in cello performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where she studied with former member of the Kronos Quartet, Jennifer Culp. Leah became a certified teacher during her time at Oberlin and attended a workshop with renowned pedagogue Tanya Carey. In Summer 2009, Leah was awarded the Orchestral Mentor position at the Aspen Music Festival and School, which provided her with the unique opportunity to mentor and coach sixteen young cellists over the course of nine weeks. With a newfound passion for private teaching, Leah Metzler delights in helping her students grow as cellists. Her pupils enjoy her endless enthusiasm during each lesson. Leah welcomes cellists of all ages and levels and particularly encourages adult beginners to contact her. Never let anyone tell you that you are too old to learn an instrument.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

My parents own a violin shop in Glendale. My father is a violin maker and my mother is a violinist, so it was almost inevitable that I end up playing a musical instrument. But I love every moment of it.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I teach cello lessons, but I also provide elegant music for all sorts of events such as weddings, parties, business events, etc.
