About
I am Brig Ricks, a California attorney admitted in 2003, California Bar No. 224750. For 23 years I have worked as a general counsel in international business.
I am General Counsel of Alliance Industries, where I handle M&A, governance, and corporate and property development across manufacturing, industrial services, hospitality, retail and construction. I am also an attorney at Iuuri Legal, a US and EU startup and small business consultancy, where I manage the US operations. I founded Burly, a construction and ag-tech equipment-sharing startup.
I have litigated civil cases and argued in federal district and appellate courts and in the California Superior Courts, Courts of Appeal and Supreme Court.
When you bring me a problem, I look for the few facts and documents that will decide it and explain them in plain language. I will tell you plainly when something is outside what I do. I am licensed in California only.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My hourly rate is $450. Where the scope is clear, I quote a fixed fee instead, with a $1,250 minimum. Limited-scope engagements are quoted in writing before any work begins, so you know the cost and what it covers.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
You tell me what you need and send me the key documents. I review them, explain what decides the issue, and send you a written scope and fee before we start. I communicate in writing so you have a clear record of my advice and the next steps.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2003, Bar No. 224750. Since then I have spent 23 years as a general counsel in international business, and I have litigated civil cases and argued in federal district and appellate courts and in the California Superior Courts, Courts of Appeal and Supreme Court.
