FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
| EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY (PARTIES, CONFERENCES, FUNDRAISERS,ETC.) BEFORE THE EVENT Upon Thumbtack booking, I will reach out for a 10-minute phone consultation where we will discuss venue details, prioritized coverage, etc. We will also solidify time and date. / DURING THE EVENT I arrive 15 minutes prior to official start time to get my gear set up. I shoot event decor, food, ceremonies, candids and posed photos of attendees and VIPs in order of pre-discussed priority. / AFTER THE EVENT Clients will receive 15-25 retouched photos per hour of coverage. The photos will be available as digital downloads via an online gallery within 1 week of the event. Expedited processing is available. The client will have the option to order prints via that gallery. | SESSION PHOTOGRAPHY (ENGAGEMENTS, HEADSHOTS, ETC.) | BEFORE THE SESSION For my photo session packages, I include a minimum 10-minute phone consultation where I get to know the client's wants and needs for their final photos. I give my clients an idea of how the shoot will go, whether we will go through proofs then and there, or where they will be able to access them online. We also set a time and date for the shoot. Once the session is scheduled, I send over a contract and an invoice for a 50% deposit. Once I receive the deposit, my client session is booked. I ask a week's notice for cancellation. / DURING THE SESSION I usually leave a little wiggle room for last minute asks, impromptu pose ideas and small location changes. We will either just shoot, or if discussed beforehand, we will dedicate some time on location to previewing the proofs and choosing selects for retouching. / AFTER THE SESSION For longer sessions (such as engagements), clients will receive proofs online within a week and final photo files within 3 weeks of the session. For shorter sessions (such as head shots), we will choose selects for retouching on location and the client will receive the retouched photos within a week of the session. / THE NITTY GRITTY Files are transferred (generally) using an online gallery. Clients will be able to download high-res and web-sized versions of their final photos via this gallery, as well as order proofs. A license for personal use will be included in the contract. All clients will be required to sign a model release, allowing me to use their likeness as part of my portfolio and advertising.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I work for an event photography agency and I also work as a second wedding photographer for another small company.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I used to work for a television news station, shooting video. That led me to get into the photography world as a hobby. I decided to pursue photography and videography as a private business this past year.
