When I was looking for a photographer I had no idea where to look or what to ask. I accidentally found the Thumbtack site and put out a notice. I received 5 replies almost immediately, but something about Sumit's excitement about my project made me think he would be a good choice. After communicating several times prior to our photo shoot we had come up with some great ideas. We met in a beautiful park and held a tea party in the grass with my daughter and my 6 grandchildren ages 1 through 10. Sumit brought an assistant with him, which I didn't think we needed, but it turns out that there was no way he could have captured all of this activity himself - there were kids everywhere. The majority of our pictures were of the kids playing. Since these kids live on opposite sides of the country, this was the first time some of these cousins met so I just wanted them to be naturally curious about each other. Sumit laid in wait for the perfect shots. One of my instructions to him was to get individual candid shots of me with each child alone, which he ensured happened. The individual shots of the kids are priceless, he softened some of the baby girls backgrounds which makes them look angelic, some of the action shots are so cute they make me smile outloud. I could go on and on, but the bottom line is that when I received the pictures, exactly 2 weeks from the date of the shoot, as promised, I actually started crying with joy. I never would have gotten such shots of these kids on my own. People always say their pictures are treasures, but these really are. The quality of his work is better that I ever could have imagined. I will come back to him and beg him to work with us again next year and the year after and the year after . . . Call him, you wont be disappointed! Kj

I had hired Sumit for picture day at my daughter's school and he did an amazing job! He came an hour before the scheduled time to set up everything for the photoshoot and he started just on time. He was so patient and calm with the students and was very interactive with them. The students had so much fun in this photoshoot! I had couple poses in mind for the students that I wanted him to do and he went beyond my expectations! He is amazing! He took class and school photos as well. He was done just in the time frame he gave me. He came with the flyers to give out to students for purchase information via online and he also had some great package options to choose from. The pictures are up online and ready for purchase now and they came out so good! All the kids look so cute!! FAQs

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
There's always a lot of new developments with cameras, lenses, lighting, software, etc. and I do read my fair share of postings and also rent equipment to demo in case it might help with the end result. However, at the end of the day, its more about the photographer and their ability to realize a vision rather than the latest equipment.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was in finance for a while, and just wasn't happy. I decided to go back to school and pursue my interests, and obtained a certificate in photography. This was about 10 years ago, and I have focused on creating beautiful images ever since!
What types of customers have you worked with?
I do a lot of family portraits and professional portraiture. I also have done work for Architectural clients, including hotels. I also love sports and have shot for Stanford University as well as some personal sports documentary projects that I have worked on.
