I have over 13 years experience face painting with happy clients. I relate well to children and adults. I have added beautiful jewel clusters and an intriguing variety of horns, including unicorn and animal horns, and I do not upcharge for these embellishments and bling I make by hand. They are so fun and make my designs sparkle and I am fairly quick.
I have been awarded a Thumbtack Best of 2015, 2016 and 2018 and have had mostly 5 star reviews!!
I just LOVE seeing a child light up when they look into the mirror and see their new persona. Adding sparkles and other embellishments just adds to their delight. Sometimes their behavior can change to fit the character I have painted! So fun!!!!

Friends of San Francisco, this was our second time hiring Joanie for our daughter’s birthday party and, for the second time, we are so happy we did! Joan is great. My party was yesterday 9-21-13 and it was scheduled to be at a park. But it was raining..and Joan told me it would rain checking to see if I her another place just in case..but I didn't.....So I kept the party at the park And it began to rain on me while I was there. So after I cleaned up got home and set up for a house party Joan was calling. She came in and did all really nice facepainting for about 15+ kids. They each were in love with their new look. Thanks again Ms. Joan and I hope to work with you again.

Joan is a talented and generous face painter, who acted very flexible and communicative throughout the booking process. The kids were tremendously satisfied and their faces looked remarkable. She brought gems, metallic paints, and even a catalog for the kids to browse for facepaint ideas.

Joanie was a dream to have as the face painter at our daughters 3rd birthday party! She was fully equipped with designs, colors, stickers, glitter and much more! All the children loved their facepaintings. We will absolutely be contacting Joanie again for our next kids event!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
At this time I am doing events with 20 or less guests. I charge by the hour. Minimum is one hour, maximum two hours. $90.00 is my hourly rate. An additional 1/2 hour is $45.00.
I will consider other rates for non-profit events.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Usually an email, text or telephone conversation to discuss details is all it takes. I do not have a website.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am constantly watching online for new ideas and training. It is amazing what I have learned and it has helped me improve my skills. I review old ideas and add new ones with each new booking and theme. It keeps things fresh. I have added my beautiful hand made bling and a variety of horns, including unicorn horns at no additional cost!
I also have a BA in Art and am an active watercolorist and Urban Sketcher..
