Face painters provide interactive entertainment at birthday parties, festivals, school events, holiday parties, weddings and more. They can paint full-face, half-face or cheek designs. Face painters are available for guests of any age and can work within a party’s theme. Several factors affect the cost of face painting.

Length of time is a main contributor to the cost of face painting services. Some face painting artists charge by the hour while others offer a flat rate for an event. All-day events or services booked for a certain number of hours may provide an opportunity to save. For example, Spectator Party Art offers 15 percent off services for six or more hours.

Variable rate

Some face painting artists offer their services within a price range. For example, Face Painting by Josie charges $75–$125 per hour depending on number of people, travel distance to the event and the type of service provided.

Cheek versus full-face

Cheek art requires less time and less paint per guest than half-face or full-face art. During the quote process, many face painters will determine which service clients prefer for their event and provide a higher or lower hourly rate accordingly.

Set rate

Other face painters have set hourly rates regardless of guest count or which type of face paint a client prefers. They may still charge additional fees for travel, however, so be sure to clarify. Here are some pricing examples:

The time and expense required for travel to an event will often be reflected in the cost for services. Some face painters charge a higher price per hour or a separate travel fee, or they set a minimum number of hours required for attending an event. For example, Spectator Party Art has a minimum of 1.5 hours for any event over 60 miles away.

Face Fantazee

Lynn from Face Fantazee made my daughter’s birthday so incredibly special! My daughter loved it!! She even brought the birthday girl a special balloon flower (it was an awesome twisted balloon formed into a flower.) Lynn showed up early, which I totally appreciated!! With my daughters party last year the hired talent showed up late and it really threw everything off. I loved her set-up with all the paint colors, glitter, brushes, etc. She had pictures for the kids to look at so they could choose something specific or guide her on what they wanted, and her director chair was way cool. Having the kids sit in this tall black directors’ chair made them feel special, it also made for some great pictures. We had a few additional kids show up for the party and Lynn stayed longer than the time we had discussed to make sure every kid got their face done – at no additional cost. She was patient with all the kids, even my three year old son who is full of life! All in all I think she painted about 13 kids. We had really nice comments from the Grandparents to the parents of our party guests. Everyone noted to us about how nice she was and how awesome the face painting was on all the kids! I would like to add that I received two quotes and hers was $20 higher. I choose her because I loved her portfolio and she lived up to it exactly! She was honestly worth the money! She gets 5 stars from us!!!!!! My daughter will never forget this birthday party and neither will I!! The Garcia Family

Kathleen did a fantastic job! She came before the party started to set up and stayed the entire time. She brung a gift for the birthday boy and even gave out treat bags to the party guests after they got their faces painted. She was very patient with the kids and most importantly her face paintings were awesome. Kathleen also offered the best price after my weeks of searching for professionalism at an affordable price.

I had rave reviews from our parents at last year's neighborhood Spring Fling. Amy was hired to do face paintings and was quick to offer her balloon services as well at no additional cost. Everyone loved her!
