I am a Certified Architectural Color Consultant for residential and commercial properties. Because I know how challenging and sometimes overwhelming it can be to select paint colors, I became a certified specialist so I could work with folks to make the best choice for them! Now I'm knowledgeable in the science behind choosing colors in addition to using my intuitive vision. My 20 years as an interior designer is very useful for color clients. Often they want assistance with window treatments, flooring and furnishings to accompany their newly painted home or office.
I am passionate about working with and truly listening to people and was a licensed therapist for 20 years prior to becoming a color and interior designer.
I love working with my clients collaboratively to enhance the look and feel of their homes. As we discuss possibilities to transform their space, I can visualize the outcome...the exciting process of making and enjoying the changes. It truly excites me to witness the joy of my clients.

Dear Fellow Home Owners and/or Home Renovators - without exaggeration, I cannot say enough *glowing* things about working with Rachelle, who founded and runs Goodfriend Color Design. She is incredible. First, she knows her stuff ... backwards, forwards, inside out, upside down ... and she is super creative. She sees possibilities and color combinations that others don't. Second, she is prompt, responsive, responsible and generous in every way. Third, she is a true pleasure with whom to work ... she is warm, kind, funny, and understands how challenging it can be to find the right color and the right feel for a room (and a home!).
I just finished having my whole home painted ... and I was on the verge of making a pretty colossal mistake in my largest room (I picked an almost-disastrous color without Rachelle's guidance ...). Rachelle patiently and gently tried to talk me out of the color; I resisted ... When she arrived to take a look, she had one more color for me to try ... and she literally saved the day. The new color was gorgeous ... and every single day I thank my lucky starts Rachelle was on my side. Without her, I'd have been very disappoint with my choice ... and we all know how frustrating (and what a bummer it is!) to feel that disappointment.
I share this story because that is how Rachelle treats you - she cares. She invests in you and your home and your vision and your hopes. She reassures you ... and most of all she is honest. She won't tell you what you want to hear; she'll tell you what you need to know. She is, true to her last name, a good friend.
I've told all my friends and family about Rachelle (and everyone just loves the colors she recommended!). In my opinion, everyone should hire her!

We needed the right direction with interiordesign when remodeling our house. We didn't want Rachelle to tell us exactly what needed to be done, we wanted to be pointed in the right direction. Rachelle did an excellent job! On time! With confidence! Rachelle's strongest expertize is choosing colors for different rooms. It is amazing how the colors flow from one room to another.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Thumbtack clients benefit by receiving a discount on my pricing. The initial consultation is $375 for up to 90 minutes. Clients outside of Thumbtack are charged $425 for up to 90 minutes. You will come away from our meeting with very specific recommendations and ideas to move forward on your own or proceed with us working together. We work together to determine the fee, whether it be hourly or on a project fee basis.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first step is talking on the phone. I'd like to hear about your design project and want to thoroughly answer your questions about my process. Once we get to know one another a bit through conversation, we set a time to meet at your home or office for an initial consultation. I like to take a tour of your home or office even though we may only be working on a few rooms. It's important to me that what we create together is in harmony with your existing space. At the end of the meeting you will receive ideas and recommendations from me and we decide together about next steps.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a Certified Architectural Color Consultant (CACC), trained and mentored by Teresa Tullio of The Business of Color. She provides ongoing levels of training throughout the year to increase student's skills. We have the opportunity to stay 'current' on the science of color and its effect on human's emotional and physical health. I also stay current as an interior designer by taking seminars and am always reading and researching changes in design.
