Introduction: I have been teaching and sharing my knowledge of Japanese for the past 12 years. When working with students, I customize lesson plans to fit their needs. All of my students see progress in their Japanese after just one lesson. All ages and skill levels are welcome. For my younger students, we focus on learning through speaking, listening, and using visual tools. For my adult students, we study Japanese through a cultural lens. I place an emphasis on speaking throughout the lesson. I also do a JLPT preparation course and remote lessons for your convenience. I enjoy meeting every one of them who is interesting in learning Japanese. They all come from the different backgrounds and objectives. Seeing how my clients enjoy and improve is the most rewarding thing to me.

tldr; Mayumi is an amazing teacher for all levels, and you should take lessons from her. Mayumi is an amazing teacher. I knew literally zero Japanese, and had 2.5 months to learn as much as possible before moving to Japan. Mayumi was incredibly accommodating (and kind!), and focused on exactly the areas I requested—listening and speaking "survival" Japanese. She taught me in Romaji because I couldn't read Hiragana or Katakana, which I really appreciated, given my short time frame. Mayumi thoughtfully explained grammatical nuances and made each lesson engaging. Thanks to Mayumi, I can actually communicate on a daily basis (but still learning)! In fact, my new Japanese teacher in Tokyo was astonished at how much Mayumi was able to teach me in such a short amount of time. Mayumi teaches all students, from extreme beginner to fluent speakers. I can't recommend her highly enough!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer a range of basic rates suitable for clients wishing to undergo 1, 1.5 or 2 hour sessions. Depending on lesson frequency, my rates are adjusted accordingly and I am always open for discussion.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
With a new customer I'll begin by organising a prerequisite introductory phone or video call, which is then followed by an assessment meeting in which I will gain an understanding of the client at hand's interests and objectives. From there, I suggest a learning plan which can easily be tailored, and subsequently begin working with the new client.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I am highly experienced in working with a range of ages, profession and location as my clientele is extensive and varied.
