I wanted to learn how to improvise better after having played classical piano for 8 years. After a few lessons Im getting really comfortable! Jeffrey works at my pace, and provides examples from the greats of jazz music to inform how I ought to think about scales, intervals, and improvisation. Great teacher and I cant wait for more.

Jeffrey is an outstanding piano teacher! I have been taking lessons with him for around a year and a half, and over that time I have grown a ton as a piano player; he has patiently taught me numerous aspects of jazz piano theory, helped me improve my piano technique tremendously, and guided me to mastery on many pieces in different musical styles (jazz, classical, jewish, and more). He is a knowledgable in many different areas of piano, and music in general, and strikes a great balance between pushing you to learn through theory + technique and having fun learning new songs + improvising.

I've had six lessons with Jeffrey so far, and I'm getting SO much out of them. He's an inspiring pianist, a boundless resource of musical knowledge, and a motivating teacher, while still being tirelessly friendly and patient. So far we've worked mostly on jazz basics, music theory understanding, and the beginnings of improvisation technique, but I'm confident that Jeffrey can help me keep learning along whatever path I take with my musicianship. A skilled and multi-talented musician, composer, and arranger, Jeffery has collaborated with me on a number of projects including notating some of my own pieces. I was extremely happy with the quality of his work. Additionally, he was the band leader and composer-in-residence for San Franciscos beloved Pickle Family Circus and consistently wrote music of great charm and invention. Highly recommended.

It was really great taking lessons with Jeffrey! After being self taught most of my life, I noticed a huge improvement in my playing abilities over a few short months. He also tailored the lessons to my interests and helped me write compositions in a way where I understood the theory. I feel confident enough to learn difficult pieces on my own now

I observe their current skill level. I ascertain their goals. I provide them with materials and coach them through the process of attaining their goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Honors graduate of the Grove school of music for composition and arranging. The Berkeley school of music. The University of South Florida composing work.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always been fascinated with the way people learn to make music. I am passionate about sharing my decades of knowledge.
