Introduction: Hi, my name is Ann Souren. I specialize in contemporary singing styles. I address the individual needs of students and tailor my lessons to meet their needs. The lessons are dynamic, fun, and extremely time-efficient. I aim for results, and I guarantee results. Most of my students feel the difference even after the first session. It usually takes me just 2-3 months to turn a complete beginner into a singer. I strongly believe that with the right teacher anyone who can speak and has an ear for music can become a singer. I have 20 years of experience as a vocal coach and more than 35 years experience as a professional singer/recording artist, singing on stages of different caliber, as well as in the studio. I know what it takes to become an outstanding performer. I have performed with various live bands, orchestras, big bands and shared the stage with Grammy award winners Yolanda Adams, Diane Schuur, Patti Austin, Richard Marx, Leo Sayer and many more. I'm passionate about sharing all of my knowledge and experience with students who are ready to take their first steps into the music industry, or hobbyists, who simply love music and singing. I helped thousands of people around the world learn how to sing or improve their existing singing technique. It makes me so happy to see how my students grow with every lesson. I love to inspire people! It's such a wonderful and rewarding feeling to know that you have helped so many people realize their dreams! I equally enjoy teaching complete beginners, amateurs and professional singers.

I don’t think words can describe how amazing Ann has been for me. I’m a Pakistani living in Maryland who has always secretly wanted to sing professionally. Of course that wasn’t the safe choice for a Pakistani immigrant and I became a doctor instead and moved to USA. My love for singing got buried underneath all the work and I pretty much forgot how happy it made me and how much I needed it in my life…until I met Ann. It almost feels like divine intervention because one random day I just felt like I want to do something for myself. Something other than work and being a physician, mom and wife. I went onto Thumbtack and found Ann with her glowing reviews. I was amazed at how responsive she was even with her incredibly busy schedule and in no time at all I was doing FaceTime lessons with her in San Francisco while sitting on the other side of the country in Maryland. I know this review is getting incredibly long but I feel I owe it to her to say all this. Ann changed my life. She unearthed that deep buried passion I had had for singing as a young girl in Pakistan. She made me believe in myself even when I would cringe listening to my recordings. The tips, exercises and coaching she provided made a world of difference to my voice. I actually heard myself able to sing in a way I didn’t think I was capable of. The experience was emotional and exhilarating. I know it may sound a bit excessive to describe singing lessons this way but it truly was an exceptional experience working with Ann. She is an amazing teacher and a beautiful person. Ann was very welcoming which greatly calmed my nerves as this was my first one-on-one singing lesson. She explained singing exercises and techniques in a clear manner that was easy to understand. I recently had my first singing lesson with my new coach, and I have to say, it was a fantastic experience. From the moment I arrived, my coach made me feel at ease and comfortable in the studio. Working with Ann is a joy and fun to learn from! And she is a PRO! If you want to feel good about yourself, get to understand your voice technically and be able to sing at a professional level, Ann is your vocal coach. Ann is classically trained. She can talk theory all day BUT she is also a performer so she understands how our vocal works. Combine that and you have the perfect coach who is supportive and patient with you. Through our lesson not only are we having fun and laughs but I am also learning my notes, the foundation and just what it takes to be good. Definitely a must have coach! Did I mention she teaches a range of genres? The most rewarding part is you get to sing the songs you love and be good at it and feel good about it :) I can’t recommend Ann enough! Try her out! You won’t regret it!

I’ve been taking lessons with Ann for the past 2-3 months, and it’s been AMAZING! The progress I’ve made in such a short period of time and the way my voice sounds now is simply unbelievable. I’ve taken voice lessons with other coaches, but Ann is simply on a different level, I can’t even compare. She’s very knowledgeable, passionate and patient. She explains everything so well, her exercises are different, not just same boring “ma me mi” every day. She creates exercises right on the spot and tailors them to students needs, and then we use them in the songs. Also, Ann is a brilliant singer herself, I’ve seen her perform, she’s incredible.
