Mike Bastian's Pentimento Jazz

Introduction: As a jazz trio, Pentimento Jazz is a popular swing jazz trio with vocals. Currently we play monthly at Sam's Chowderhouse in Half Moon Bay. We were the house band at Lavanda Rest. for 10 yrs, and have played parties for Google, Apple, Tesla and many other Corps. We've played weddings and events at the DeYoung Museum, The Academy of Sciences, most of the Major Hotels and venues in the Bay Area. We're always told 'we made the party!'. Our website is pentimentojazz.com AS a teacher, I am a mature, Juilliard trained percussionist/teacher. I studied in NYC, and worked as a Jazz drummer and singer for 10 years before relocating to the Bay Area. While working in industry, I continued my studies with composer percussionists Lou Harrison and Anthony Cirone and have played in many of the Bay Area regional symphonies and theatrical shows for the past 18 years I've taught at The Music School Of The Presbyterian Church of Sunnyvale, as well as teaching students in their homes. My students play in the bands and orchestras of many of the middle and high schools in the area as well as top National colleges. My students range in age from grade school through adults. My training and experience as a traditionally trained percussionist in both a symphonic and contemporary musical settings allows me to to not just develop drummers, but musician percussionists who can apply their skills, knowledge and music reading abilities to any style of music, Classical, Marching Band, Jazz, Rock, etc. Additionally, I've been successful working with Special Needs youth.
