I teach in person if you are in the Orange County California area, if not, I teach using Zoom (most of my students are in other states)
Learning online is not difficult since we are face to face over Zoom and I switch the camera view to the piano keyboard to demonstrate piano skills.

Jorie is always very positive and encouraging. This was very important for us as my husband and I had never had any Piano classes. She has a lot of patience and always comes very prepared with lessons tailored to each of our progress. We also like her method very much. Her classes are a perfect combination of musictheory and practice. After just a few sessions we can now play a couple of short but beautiful songs, which beyond our expectations. I have been looking for a piano teacher for my two children ages 8 and 10 for years... We’ve tried several but had to stop for various reasons, including scheduling conflicts, teaching style, etc. A friend recommended I try Thumbtack and I am so glad I did. Jorie has been teaching my son and daughter for a year now (unfortunately most of it on Zoom) but even with that added challenge, they are doing so well. She is the perfect fit for them. They are learning so much AND having fun. It’s not the traditional sequence of songs learned that I had as a child, but that’s the point - that doesn’t always work for everyone and it wouldn’t for my kids. I want them to learn music so they can appreciate the arts and have a way to express themselves creatively. And she is helping them do that. Yes, I still have to be on top of them to practice but they love her as a teacher and I am so thankful. No reservations and my highest recommendation!!!!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is standard for my local area. However, I only charge for the lessons you attend. If you notify me in advance that you will not be able to attend a lesson then you do not have to pay. This is NOT typical for music lessons. I feel this "perk" that I offer is a huge help to families who have to work around vacations/dr. appointments/sports etc.!!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
No material/lesson books to purchase for the first year! I provide the learning sheets for you to print. I specialize in helping beginners make quick progress!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a singer/songwriter. I have 30 years of experience playing piano, voice instruction, songwriting and recording. I have studied at Berkeley School of Music in Boston, MA.
