Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I believe I have much more experience as a performer, actress, songwriter, and studio musician than most voice teachers. I also had my own rock band for years and my own recording studio--so I'm very familiar with that genre and what it takes to sing rock, blues, and Broadway tunes (now that Broadway has shifted to rock voices). I have written for Karaoke Scene Magazine for over 15 years too, and my research for those articles has made me very knowledgable about many teachers and researchers of vocal information. My main gift to others, though, is the ability to diagnose and then convey simply how to fix vocal and mental "blocks" to full self-expression. I love to meet new people, I love to see how fast we can make dramatic improvements happen, and I love to see how much confidence they can have in sometimes only a few lessons. I also love how much my students give me: they are the most loving, inspiring, and tenacious musicians, and they empower me to be great too!

Jill, is a motivating teacher of voice, She brings actual on-stage experience to her students as well as an amazing array of techniques designed to overcome either unhealthy habits or physiological impediments. She is always patient, happy and encouraging even when we repeat mistakes multiple times in succession. She is able to give students precise examples of what she is asking us to do. When needed she is not afraid of providing some hands on support to show us where on our vocal equipment to make adjustments. Her home studio has all the necessary equipment to provide a professional teaching atmosphere for her students. She can also help in converting our songs to a key that is more appropriate to our voice range. I and my wife are very happy we found Jill’s class and will continue to learn from her expert knowledge.

When I was young I was told I couldn't carry a tune. I was embarrassed to sing in front of an audience, because I believed I had an awful voice. Jill believes in me and knows she can help me improve. She doesn't give up. If her first vocal exercise doesn't get the results she has in mind, she keeps trying until she gets me (and her other students) to succeed. Thanks, Jill!

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I was singing in a church in a town I had just moved to, and a choir member asked me to teach at her private school for girls. I had never taught singing, but I knew a lot from studying myself, so I almost immediately had lots of students. The most dedicated and the MOST fun students I first taught were the kindergartners--five year olds who really wanted to sing well! The students and opportunities kept coming and soon I had many private students. I inherited a gift for teaching and I just love it!
