FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The size of the wall is only one part of the estimate. The type of wallpaper, the condition of the walls, and the complexity of the installation are just as important. Because of that, installation pricing typically ranges from $4 to $20 per square foot, depending on the project. The same size wall can require completely different installation techniques depending on the wallcovering. Every material behaves differently and may require a specific primer, adhesive, preparation method, and installation process. An experienced installer may charge more and still complete the project in less time. You’re not simply paying for the hours spent on the wall—you’re paying for technical knowledge, problem-solving, efficiency, and the confidence that the installation will be done correctly the first time. Every estimate already includes the appropriate primer for your wallpaper, the professional adhesive recommended for that specific material, and minor wall preparation, such as filling small nail holes and repairing small surface imperfections. Major wall repairs, skim coating, texture removal, drywall repairs, water damage, or any work beyond normal wall preparation are not included in the installation estimate. If those services are needed, they will be quoted separately. You’re welcome to have those repairs completed by your preferred contractor, or I can provide a separate estimate if you’d like me to complete that work before the installation. You only need to provide the wallpaper. If you haven’t selected one yet, I’m happy to recommend trusted manufacturers and suppliers based on your style, budget, and project goals.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Every project starts by understanding what the customer actually needs. Some people prefer to send photos and receive an estimate remotely. Others feel more comfortable with an on-site consultation. I adapt my process to each client instead of asking every client to follow the same process. Based on the information you provide, I’ll let you know what I need to accurately evaluate the project. Sometimes photos and measurements are enough. Other times, it’s better to see the space in person to avoid mistakes before installation. On installation day, I verify everything we discussed, inspect the wallpaper and the walls, and make sure everything is ready before starting. Every material requires a different approach, so I use the products and techniques that best match each project. The technical decisions are my responsibility. My goal is to guide you through the process so you can make informed decisions and enjoy the final result without unnecessary stress.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Over the past 20 years, I’ve dedicated my career to mastering wallpaper installation through continuous hands-on experience, international training, and developing better installation methods. I completed advanced training in Milan, Italy, with Jannelli & Volpi, one of the world’s leading wallcovering manufacturers, where I expanded my knowledge of luxury wallcoverings and European installation techniques. Throughout my career, I’ve installed some of the most exclusive wallcoverings in the industry, including de Gournay, Phillip Jeffries, Calico, Schumacher, Elitis, Arte, Omexco, Vescom, Armani/Casa, Missoni Home, Gucci, Cole & Son, Pierre Frey, York Wallcoverings, Thibaut, Zoffany, Romo, Maya Romanoff, and other high-end designer brands. My passion for improving the trade led me to develop my own installation methodology, which has trained more than 1,186 professional installers across Brazil, the United States, Belgium, Portugal, and Italy. I was also invited by Bobinex, Brazil’s largest wallpaper manufacturer, to serve as an ambassador for professional wallpaper installers, helping raise installation standards and promote best practices throughout the industry. I believe learning never stops. Every project, every material, and every challenge is another opportunity to improve and deliver an even better result for my clients.
