- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?We meet one-to-one and discuss goals and health and injury history. We try out the Pilates equipment and do a workout. I create a strength and mobility fitness plan that evolves to help clients meet their goals. We add in cardiovascular fitness either into the session or outside of the session. Accountability is at the level you and I discuss.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have multiple degrees, including a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education. I am certified through BASI to teach Pilates on equipment, with specialized certificates working with those who have osteoporosis, spinal conditions and injuries. I am a Rossiter System Coach. The Rossiter System is a unique system of pain relieving exercises to help chronic pain like plantars fasciitis, shoulder pain or restriction, and back pain, through deep tissue stretching exercises.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I’ve taught movement, physical education, and exercises classes since 1993, beginning at the college level. I began at California State Fullerton as a graduate assistant and continue teaching large group classes (upwards of 100+ people in one class) today at the college level as an Assistant Professor at Saddleback College. I’ve trained private and small group clients in my current setting since 2010, where I offer personalized training to 1-2 individuals at a time.
