FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
every package follows one rule: two rolls of film and twenty finished photographs per hour. film, processing, hand-editing, a custom moodboard and your online gallery with a print store are all included, so the price you see is the price. a 50% deposit reserves your date and goes toward your total; the balance is due before your gallery is delivered. travel is free within 30 miles of los angeles. i don’t discount, but i keep a small number of one-hour petite sessions each month ($450, select weekdays) for smaller budgets: same film, same eye, shorter format. add-ons if you want them: super 8 motion film, extra rolls, rush delivery.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
1. inquire with what you’re dreaming up. i personally reply within a day with dates and a recommendation. 2. a 50% deposit and a quick e-sign lock your date. 3. the week of your session i send your custom moodboard: light, locations, styling. you tell me what you love. 4. we shoot, usually at golden hour. i direct you the entire time; you never have to “pose.” 5. your film is developed and scanned at my lab, then i hand-edit every frame. previews within the week, your full gallery within two weeks, with a print store built right in.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
film is its own training. there is no screen on the back of a 35mm camera, so every frame has to be metered, composed and exposed correctly before the shutter clicks. no retakes, no fixing it in post. that has been the education that matters most. i graduated with honors from nyu’s gallatin school of individualized study with a bachelor of arts, where i built my own concentration around the intersection of art, design and commerce. from there i worked across different areas of the fashion industry and taught myself film alongside it. about six years ago it turned professional: friends and family began asking me to photograph them, then their friends asked, and it has grown by referral ever since.
