Introduction: My work is unique in that I can mimic just about any style wanted. I spent time in India, Egypt and Tunisia and learned the differing styles that each culture highlights. Mostly though I feel that henna is my bridge-builder and I am focused on using it in ritual. I love doing Bar/Bat Mitzvahs for this reason and have even been asked to do funeral henna on people and animals. It's being there for a celebration or for a sacred event, holding the hands, feeling the intensity and without words finding the right patterns and designs to manifest something truly magical... and watch it fade.
Everything! I love everything about this job ~ mostly I love the ability to meet people as real human beings. The level of trust needed is very difficult to bridge, and I love being someone that people trust with body-art and their sacred moments. It's the most fulfilling of all the art I have worked with and have had a long life as an artist in many mediums... I choose henna, in the end.
