Introduction: I provide compassionate support and understanding in a comfortable and safe environment. I have successfully helped many people find relief from depression and anxiety and enhanced their relationships. Obstacles and challenges become opportunities for growth and fulfillment, while emotional pain and confusion become clarity and wisdom by incorporating the mind, body, and spirit in a practical approach to growth and change. Anger is transformed into compassion as we learn to see things without judgements and distortions. Fear dissolves into acceptance, allowing us to be fully alive and present to experience joy and happiness. I utilize an experiential mix of styles including cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, humanistic and family systems, blended with mindfulness practice. The process gently but effectively enhances your capacity to enjoy life, and resolves old traumas and hidden beliefs that keep you from living as a free human being. I bring to my work years of spiritual practice and meditation, as well as my formal education in clinical psychology. In addition, I am associated with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) as both a provider educator and a family to family educator, helping mental health staff improve their skills for working with individuals and families traumatized by mental illness, and helping educate families to cope with psychiatric illness.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure they are licensed and have verifiable qualifications. Go to therapy with a mindset that is eager to learn and work on your issues. Spend some time talking on the phone to see if they might be a fit. You should feel comfortable with the therapist, and the environment should be one that promotes a safe and relaxed feeling in you. Have at least 2 to 3 sessions before you decide if its a good match, and honor your right to shop around. When you find a therapist you feel you can work with, stick with it for the best results.
