I hired Rupi to provide bookkeeping services in late April. During our initial conversation, Rupi highlights her communication skills as a strength when working with clients. Based on our discussions, we went ahead with services. Although we did not communicate much, Rupi was initially responsive to messages. Sometimes, in early Oct, the communication began to change. In early October, I notified Rupi of a change in my bank account, and she shared she would update it in Intuit. In November, I learned of an error with the banking issue; I contacted Rupi. It took multiple tries, but she finally responded and told me she would fix the problem and get back to me. In talking to Rupi, she explained personal matters were impacting her ability to communicate effectively; I understood that, and since we didn’t speak daily/weekly, I didn’t perceive it escalating to the point that it would impact me significantly. Rupi did not follow up with me about the banking issue, which cost me ~$800 last week to fix with Intuit. Three weeks ago (November 7/8), I texted and called Rupi regarding running payroll, but she did not return my call. On November 13, I messaged her via Thumbtack because it showed she was online and still had no response. She has not responded to my communications nor provided any services for November. There are no outstanding payments. The last invoice I received from Rupi was from October and was paid in full. I am very disappointed in Rupi’s professionalism. In my message, I asked her to let me know if she no longer wishes to provide the contracted services. She did not communicate with me; she stopped providing the services, yet her profile continues showing as “online” on Thumbtack.
