Introduction: My consultations are through. They include qualifying a customer to pass a means test, which is part of the bankruptcy process. Helping people in need and under stress from debt collectors. The most common statement made by my customers is, "I should have come in earlier."

Cynthia C.

Personal Bankruptcy Attorney

I had to do more paperwork for background credit than ever before. I appreciate knowing that you are seeing everything not just what is on the credit report

It is always good to be through. If not, we have to file amendments after the initial work is done and extra charges are kept to a minimum.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Fees depend on the complexity of the matter and I can quote you a fee after evaluating your case. Most folks are on the lower end at $1200.00 plus court filing fees. My clients can make payments if they want to but I cannot file their case until the fees and costs are paid in full. I can deal with the creditors while my clients make payments.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I am happy to answer questions in the phone at any time, but ideally I see a client in my office for a free consultation. The consultation I offer is comprehensive, not just a quick meeting to tell you how much it will cost. It usually lasts an hour. Once a client has retained me, I give them a list if documents I need and a binder to organize them. I take their creditor calls so they don't have to deal with collection calls. Once the binder is complete and the fees are paid, I prepare the petition and meet with the clients and go over every age before they sign. The signed petition is then filed with the court. A hearing is held 30-45 days from the date of filing and the clients and I appear before the trustee with the client. I prepare all of my clients for this hearing. In most cases, the clients are granted a discharge .

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a law degree. I am a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys and I am on the Mediation Panel for the Southern District of California Bankruptcy Court and I limit myself to bankruptcy and settling debts.
