Tiny Tutors curriculum includes Circle Time activities in the subjects of History, Weather, Botany, Zoology, Ecology, Geography, Geometry and special monthly theme activities. During these fun songs, felt board stories, finger plays and role playing games, your child will discover and understand the idea of time, past, present and future. The days of the week, months of the year, date and year, as well as the 4 seasons and climate. A wide variety of fruits, vegetables, flowers, animals, habitats will be introduced. Geometry will be apart of the lessons with shapes and solids of the week. Lastly, Geography with lessons on the Continents, Countries and States. Tiny Tutors academic program is based on the teaching method and style created by Dr. Maria Montessori. Dr. Montessori felt that a teacher should be graceful but precise in her movements, simple and clear with her words, and take the role of observer. Montessori also believed that children learn from their environment. The development of the child is dependent on the environment he is in. A child's safest, warmest, most familiar place to flourish is their home. Tiny Tutors is dedicated to constructing an environment that is rich with opportunity. Our curriculum includes a variety of lessons to develop the whole child. Practical life lessons are used to develop concentration, fine motor skills, eye-hand co-ordination, decision making power, patience and independence. Sensorial lessons develop the child’s visual, auditory, olfactory and tactile senses. These materials isolate a defining quality such as size, color, sound, smell, texture, or shape. Language lessons develop vocabulary, phonetic awareness, encoding, decoding and creative writing and thinking skills. The language materials include objects and pictures to be named, matched, labeled, and classified. Sand paper letters allow the child to feel as well as see the alphabet phonics and the “movable alphabet” naturally lead the child toward writing and reading Math lessons develop complete and accurate understanding of numbers and mathematical operations. With the strengthening of senses and the use of didactic materials children can form not only their intelligence, but the full totality of their psychic powers.
