- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I always had a camera with me as kid. Not so much as a passion for photography itself, but because even as a kid I could sense how fleeting life can be. Family and friends were always so important to me and I wanted to be able to look back and hold treasured moments in my life and maybe even share them with others. Later on in my teens and early adulthood I would find myself getting annoyed at all the special candid moments that my friends'/family's wedding photographer would miss, so I as a guest I documented/photographed their day from my perspective & then gift the bride & groom copies of the images. I started to get comments from the brides, grooms, their friends, and family of how much they preferred my images over their hired "professional". At the time I was pursuing a fine arts degree, so I didn't take the plunge of pursuing photography as business until after my own wedding. Again sadly many missed images that I can never get back. With another nudge from my loving husband he finally gave me the boost to make a shift in my craft and switch to photography as my main art form! Now I am happily providing photography services in a variety of capacities, but mostly focus on portraiture and weddings! I can truly say that I LOVE my job!!
