Introduction
I have been teaching for over 20 years. Many of my students have went on to graduate from prestigious music schools, Berklee, Cal Arts, Oberlin Conservatory , etc... Others have gone on to play professionally and some are enjoying playing the bass just for fun. I am also a Berklee Graduate and use many of the Berklee teaching methods and materials. I have performed and/or recorded throughout the States, and in Europe with players, Danny Carrey (Tool), Raymo, and Delacruz (Slightly Stoopid) Antonio Sanchez (Pat Metheny) Doug Webb (Freddie Hubbard) James Tartaglia etc... I teach all styles- Blues, Rock, Jazz, HipHop, etc.. and all levels from beginning to advanced. If you want to expand your playing to the next level, or you're a beginner looking to learn the bassics I can definitely help you, as I have with many other students on all levels. I teach from my fully equip LA air conditioned studio with capabilities to record audio/video lessons at your request. Check out my website for audio/video samples of my playing, and feel free to contact me if you have any other questions. - David Hilton I enjoy taking students to the next level in their playing. Watching and hearing a student progress to their enjoyment is very satisfying for me. I also enjoy taking a brand new beginning student through the bassics of holding their instrument to playing popular bass lines, to beyond. Feel free to contact me for any questions about my methods and approach to teaching. Thank you, David Hilton

Dave is very good about teaching skills and concepts that translate to functional use with the bass. Everything he shows me leads to a deeper understanding of the instrument, which I really enjoy.

David is awesome! His knowledge of bass and of music in general has really brought my playing and understanding of the bass's roll in music to a new level. His experience and education really make him a great teacher for players of all ability levels.

Love David! He was my first electric bass teacher, I started taking lessons from him when I was about 15. He's very practical and casual, you know he's not gonna make you play scales up and down with a metronome for the entire lesson. A more typical lesson would be David showing you how to apply a certain mode, or pattern to a particular tune or situation. Then he'll turn on the drum machine and you'll take turns soloing and holding down the groove. He's very inspiring as a teacher, partially because he's such a good bass player and also because he treats his students like serious musicians. After learning from David for a few months I really started to get into music and began practicing rigorously. Great guy and great teacher! Highly recommended!
