Sacramento Riding School is a place where you will receive thorough and knowledgeable instruction from one of the best. Alicia tunes right in on the student's skill and comfort levels and takes it from there to truly customize instruction, all the while with patience and encouragement and a nudge forward if the time is right. Whether you're just starting out or already riding, English or Western, this is a wonderful place. So glad I found Alicia and her riding school!
I started riding with Natalie Rooney at Four Star Farm to improve my riding, primarily for dressage. Her lessons are consistently positive, and I come away feeling both myself and horse are iable to enjoy each other more fully. Natalie practices what I call compassionate candorproviding feedback that helps you to do your best and learn while not making you feel incompetent. She has a passion for horses and riding that is infectious and makes learning fun! If you have competitive goals--at any level--she works with you to develop a plan for accomplishing them. I am constantly astonished at the extent of her overall horsemanship knowledge, which she willingly shares. I also appreciate that Natalie invites stellar clinicians, such as Greg Best, Axel Steiner and Alfredo Hernandez, to Four Star Farm and encourages her clients to take advantage of their expertise. I can't imagine having a better experience and am so glad for me and my horse that I found her.

I do all types of riding for balance. A person needs to know the balance between the rider and the horse to preform to their best ability for safety concerns and performance!
We provide horseback riding instruction, beginning through advanced, with a concentration on hunters, jumpers, dressage, and western dressage. The horse boarding facility on-site includes stalls with paddocks and full-time pasture board. Horses are available for lease.
I have ridden both Western and English professionally. I grew up on a ranch where we boarded horses and gave lessons. I lost my amateur standing at the age of 14. My mom is a horse show judge and has her own horse show business called, "Let's Show."

Tamara seems to be very knowledgeable and I like the fact she is on the competitive path
The intercollegiate riders under my coaching have made it to the regional, zones, and national finals every year to date. My latest endeavor is obtaining a horse show steward license. A horse show steward sometimes also called a rules steward or licensed steward, is a licensed official at a horse show tasked with the responsibility of interpreting and enforcing the rules of the organization that sanctions the horse show. In many organizations, stewards also must submit reports following the show explaining any major rules violations or other information that may be required. The show steward is an individual required to be of the highest ethical standard.
I highly recommend this trainer and his methods. This past summer it was my job to take an untrained headstrong 3 year old mare (July) and turn her into a sound riding horse. I soon learned that I was in way over my head and needed help from someone with extensive training experience and past knowledge. That person was Bill Baehr. Bill worked with July and I from start to finish, first teaching excellent ground manners and respect of personal space, desensitization and trust, and finally the lesson that being ridden can be fun. July progressed quickly and before I knew it, it was time to lope her across open country. Amazing! I never would have thought that you could take an untrained, barely handled mare and have her learn so much so fast. Bill was not only extremely thorough and comprehensive, but he was unhurried and made sure we had the results we wanted before moving on to the next task. Riding an inexperienced horse can be scary, but I knew that Bill and I had done the necessary groundwork and I trusted him completely. By using proven training methods, Bill ensured the safest environment possible for me and my horse. Bill was also kind to the horse and very patient. The best part of the training was my direct involvement, and Bills belief that the rider/owner must have a hands on role. I pestered him with many questions about how and why things were done, and Bill patiently explained everything I needed to know. He would show me what to do and I would take over and do them, while he coached me every step of the way. Learning how to train from Bill was a privilege and I would love the opportunity to work with him again. I truely believe in his methods and would recommend him to any rider, trainer, or horse enthusiast.
I provide riding instruction for beginners through advanced. I have 28 years of experience and love to teach. I have gentle lesson horses and a fabulous facility. I give lots of personal attention. Group and private lessons are available.
I provide services that include special care of the horses. I treat each animal as if it were my own. Other transporters tend to load as many horses as they can and drive nonstop to their next destination of picking up and dropping off horses, horses arrive dehydrated and exhausted from heat and constant trailer movement.. I tend to haul fewer horses stop often and make sure horses are drinking water at each stop. I provide water flavored with molasses or apple juice to get them to drink. I also provide bran and water mashes. If it is safe to do so will unload walk the horse and reload during a long trip. I have an onboard camera system that allows me to monitor the horses all during the transport.
I do horse training, riding lessons, and sales. I teach both children and adults from beginner to advanced riding lessons. I also go to horse shows, hauling, and sales. Please visit my website for photos and more information.
The services provided by the staff at this establishment are far beyond any expectations that I ever dreamed could be provided. If you have a horse or are considering trying out horse husbandry or just a weekend of riding you will be overwhelmed by the amount of care that they extend at Auburn Equestrian Center.
