Kim is a fabulous violin instructor. As an educator myself, I tend to be more critical of the professionals who teach my children. Kim speaks to them at as mature students, sets her expectations with care and obvious knowledge (for example, she told them that she was excited to find their areas for because that meant that they had good things to focus on and work together, rather than chastising them for failing) and encourages them to take ownership of their musicianship. She also spoke well of their previous teachers, highlighting what they learned well from them, and also highlighting her differences and then discussing why she does things the way she does. I find this to be incredibly professional, as we have had other instructors who did exactly the opposite, and in the process undermined my children's confidence in the work that they had done elsewhere. She re-ordered her schedule to accommodate having both girls the same night, and has been responsive to any and all questions they or I have. I would recommend her without hesitation, and am so thankful to have found her!

Finding the right private teacher is so important no matter what your personal goals are. A good rapport with your teacher makes lessons more enjoyable and can make learning fun. Not only should your teacher be knowledgeable, but they should be likable too!
