Mr. Lucas is a defense attorney extraordinaire. In difficult situations, he brings his brilliant legal mind and his great sense of compassion together to give hope and excellent legal care and attention. Mr. Lucas is very thorough and very, very honest and straightforward with his clientele and their deeply-affected family members. When he is on a case, he gives his total energy and effort. Each client/defendant is invaluable to him and he fights for justice to be fair, humane and reasonable. He will not sugar-coat any situation or circumstance. That is sometimes hard to handle, but it is ultimately the best for the client and their family because a strong dose of reality is often what is most needed in a case where a defense attorney is needed. He is "in it" for all the right reasons, not just his much-deserved and hard-earned fees. He truly cares about the families and defendants he works tirelessly for. He knows his stuff, he knows the law, he knows how the court and criminal justice systems work and he is going to fight like hell for his clients. If it is a case where his defendant is found guilty or pleads to a case, rest assured that Mr. Lucas is going to also fight like hell to be sure that fines and punishments are fair and reasonable. There is no one better to have in an accused person's corner. Thank you, Mr. Lucas, for being a defense lawyer for all the right reasons. If you need and seek the best, who will be fair and reasonable cost-wise, as well, then attorney Roger Lucas should be the next phone call you make.

A bankruptcy lawyer based in Colorado Springs, CO, I represent people who have found themselves in a financial situation that seems to have no easy resolution. Many of my clients have lost jobs, become ill, or have been injured, and this led to them not being able to stay abreast of their payments on mortgage, credit cards, medical bills, or car. I realize that things happen. Even the hardworking individuals file for divorce, get laid off, got in an accident, become sick, their company closes, or they are no longer able to work, or they can no longer pay their credit card bills, or their mortgage rate has increased, and they're unable to make the higher monthly payments. Such things are rather common these days, and those who never expected they will go through these things now find themselves in a situation, where the most possible option for them is to seek the protection of the bankruptcy court. As a Colorado Springs bankruptcy lawyer, I believe clients deserve to be treated with respect and courtesy. I make no judgments as to how my clients got into their current situation. I guarantee all my clients that I will do my utmost to help them through this difficult time, and on their way to a fresh start. I use cutting-edge technologies that enable me to answer quickly and provide you the effective and efficient representation you deserve. My job is to assist my clients improve their financial life through the use of the remedies offered under the U.S. Bankruptcy Laws.

We are dedicated attorneys committed to providing the best possible outcomes for our clients. We believe that communication is key and we aren't happy unless our clients are happy.

I've been practicing commercial real estate law for over thirty years (as either VP of Real Estate or in-house counsel) for national tenants (like Cinemark Theaters and TGI Fridays restaurants) and also various landlords that own and/or operate enclosed malls, manufacturer outlet centers, power centers, office buildings, and neighborhood shopping centers. The leverage of having aided on both sides of the negotiation table is that I comprehend the basic motivations and needs of both tenants and landlords. My years of experience have also shown that there are real life consequences to the real estate documents wording, and you better understand what you're complying before you sign them. I am not a litigating attorney (i.e.: I don’t go to court). I’m a negotiator. It is my belief that only the attorneys win if you need to resort to litigation. I specialize in negotiating fair, firm and clear contracts that are personalized to fit the operating requirements of the tenant, and don’t need to be litigated. I also specialize in discovering creative solutions to complicated problems through negotiation and relationship building. I really enjoy the real estate development business, as well as leading people through the process.

How do you find a good real estate lawyer?

If buying or selling property feels overwhelming and the thought of finding a good real estate lawyer seems daunting, you’re in luck. There are some simple steps to follow for finding a trustworthy, affordable real estate lawyer to help with your property and legal needs.

      • Determine what kind of real estate lawyer you need. Many states require a real estate attorney to handle sale closing documents. For more complex matters such as a real estate deal gone awry or foreclosure, you’ll want to find an attorney who has successfully handled cases like yours.
      • Look for online reviews of real estate lawyers in your area. Verify that they have proven experience closing or winning cases like yours and that they are in good standing with the state bar association.
      • Choose two or three lawyers to interview. Many offer a free consultation to learn about your case and provide information about rates. For standard real estate closing services, in-depth interviewing might not be necessary.
      • Ask about their rates and whether they charge by the hour or provide services for a flat fee. Ask whether a retainer is required, and what the total bill should be for a case like yours.
      • Ask for a write-up of the services that will be covered by the projected costs.
      • Make sure you like the real estate agent and they treat you with respect. Confirm whether they or another person will be working on your case and make sure you’re comfortable with all members of their team.
      • Pay the retainer and hire your lawyer.

What is a personal injury lawyer?

A personal injury lawyer fights on your behalf if you’ve been injured physically, psychologically, economically or in reputation. This injury may be the result of neglect or malicious intent of another person, or it could be at the hands of a business, government or other entity. Personal injury lawyers specialize in tort law, which is the law of civil wrongs like car accidents, company wrongdoing, unlawful imprisonment and more.

To become qualified to be a personal injury lawyer in the United States, a person must earn a bachelor’s degree, followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from a law school. Most states then require the person to pass the bar exam to become licensed to practice law. Unlike many attorneys who require a retainer, personal injury lawyers often work on contingency fees. This means that in lieu of payment upfront, they receive an agreed-upon percentage of the settlement in case of a win.

What does a real estate lawyer do?

A real estate lawyer represents their client’s best interest in all matters related to the sale, purchase and ownership of real estate. They are experts in real estate law. In states that require a real estate lawyer to close home sales, the lawyer must review and finalize all documents before the deal can be legally completed. Real estate lawyers also help clients legally protect their rights when entering, exiting or renegotiating a real estate deal. You can hire a real estate lawyer as an individual or as a business. A real estate lawyer can help with negotiation, addressing mortgage fraud, managing foreclosures and bankruptcy, transfers of titles and deeds, property ownership disputes, zoning issues, creating a co-ownership contract for joint purchase of a property, and much more. Real estate lawyers can also protect you from issues that result when a known problem was not properly disclosed by the previous owner. Overall, real estate lawyers are an added cost when it comes to buying and selling property, but they also ensure your best interests are met, and that you and the people you are doing business with comply with the law.

What kind of lawyer does wills?

No one likes talking about death, but it’s better than leaving your children or siblings to sort out your estate. A clearly planned will can make the time of mourning easier for everyone. An estate attorney will develop a legal will, create trusts on your behalf, and ensure the proper execution of your estate after you pass away.

Family attorneys and estate attorneys, also called probate and wills attorneys, can each prepare wills. The type of lawyer best suited to prepare your will depends on your situation. Most family attorneys provide services to prepare basic wills, including bequeathing property and personal items to family or naming a guardian for minor children. However, estate attorneys specialize in preparing wills in more complex situations. Consider hiring an estate attorney if you:

      • Have a large number of assets, especially those subject to estate taxes
      • Want to create a trust, such as allowing a spouse to live in your home until he or she dies and then leaving it to your children, or set up long-term care for a beneficiary
      • Have an ownership stake in a business
      • Expect someone to contest your will
      • Want to disinherit your spouse
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
