Introduction: Hi there. My name is Jonathan Tierney, and I have worked in the restaurant industry for more than 14 years. Other than my time in the military, I have spent most of my working life in kitchens. Cooking has been my biggest passion in life since I was about 11 years old. I have not gone through formal culinary training; however, I believe my decade of experience more than makes up for that. I have references available as well. You can see from my pictures that presentation is extremely important to me. I consider myself an artist & food my medium. My most recent experience was as a line cook for St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem where I cooked for 400-500 people as well as handled multiple catered events daily. I recently resigned from that position to take on the role of stay-at-home dad and focus on the things most dear to me; those being my family and my art(cooking more intimate and artistic meals). It is for this reason I have chosen to go the route of personal chef. It is an easy way to make a little money for my family while continuing to hold onto my passion and hone my craft. My husband and I are friends of Jon Tierney and his wife and we headed to their home for a relaxed Christmas Eve dinner, just us and the kids. We weren't expecting anything fancy, but Jon delivered up a huge spread! There were two appetizers and a cheese tray, and simple snacks for the kids. Dinner was wonderful, a grilled cut of lamb with a balsamic/honey/mint reduction sauce, oven-baked potatoes and asparagus... I'm pregnant and Jon was very conscientious about making sure I did not have a too-red piece of lamb, which I felt was very thoughtful! We were very happily surprised, and Jon let my husband get in his way and "help" with the grilling! Our get-together was so nice, and made even better by a fantastic meal made by Jon!

I have hired Jon for the last 3 years for birthday dinners, Christmas dinners, and date night dinners. This last Christmas dinner was a rosemary mint lamb with a honey mint sauce paired with asparagus, and roasted potatoes. The last birthday dinner was a London broil with mango and mango sauce sauce paired with brown sugar, balsamic scalloped sweet potatoes! These are the first 2 that come to mind of many that he has made for my family. Jon truly has a knack for pairing sweet, bitter, savory, and salty in the proper manner to develop items that stretch the imagination and hit every taste bud! The plating technique is absolutely astounding as well, purely artistic!

Chef Tierney was the lead cook in charge of preparing a prime rib dinner for our Pikes Peak Round Table event. Not only was the dinner absolutely delicious, dare I say Broadmoor quality, but the service and professionalism was top notch as well. Our original estimate was 150 people for dinner. That number jumped to 190 just days before the event took place. Chef Tierney and his staff handled the increase in guests better than anyone could have expected. Our event went off without a hitch thanks to the calm and collected demeanor of Chef Tierney and his staff. I would highly recommend Chef Tierney for any and all catering needs you may have.

Jon is a close friend of mine, and I always enjoy his cooking. The last time his family came to visit he made some amazing ribs that he dry rubbed and let sit for the day before putting on the Smoker. He accompanied that with the biggest helping of homemade mac and cheese you could ever dream of! I was stuffed but went back for seconds anyway, and it was totally worth the misery!!!!
