- What types of customers have you worked with?
The most common requests I get are for Bridal and Holiday makeup. I also perform make up applications for models and fashion photoshoots, as well as live shows. In addition to special occasions and events, I am experienced in giving "make overs" to women who would like to update their look or learn about the current trends. This involves a consultation where I learn about the clients current use of products, daily routine, skin type, health habits, and their ultimate goal: what they wish they could learn or change. Then I proceed to apply skin care and make up, all while explaining to the client the techniques and products being used. All products used are based on facts learned through consulting client. After the application of products and explanation of techniques, I provide a detailed list with all the tools, skincare, and cosmetic products used to ensure the client can recreate the look I gave her.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Always set up a consultation. In a consultation the MUA should provide examples of their work (in a form of a portfolio), estimates on pricing, as well as a demonstration of abilities and services to be rendered if booked by potential client. When working with an experienced MUA, they should also be able to provide a pre-written contract for the MUA and client to sign at time of booking to ensure date, time, and expectations, along with any clauses regarding professional photography. These contracts are mostly used when booking bridal parties.
