FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I understand that different legal matters require flexible billing options. Depending on the nature of your case, I offer either an hourly rate or a flat fee. My hourly rate is $225. I believe in transparency, and to retain my services I generally charge a reasonable retainer of $3,000. This ensures we have the necessary resources to begin working on your case promptly and efficiently. For appellate cases, my retainer is $5,000. By offering both hourly rates and flat fees, I aim to provide flexible and transparent billing that aligns with your requirements and ensures you receive the exceptional legal assistance you deserve.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I take new potential client matters seriously. Many firms may offer a “free” consultation, but this consultation typically only lasts fifteen minutes. Since I don't believe that fifteen minutes is enough time to begin to form an understanding about your needs, my consultations are scheduled to last up to one hour. Further, because I carefully control my caseload to ensure that I have sufficient time to be responsive to my current client's needs, I have to ensure that new potential clients are serious, so I charge $225 for the consultation.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My academic journey began at Colorado Christian University, where I graduated magna cum laude with degrees in accounting and business management. These degrees provided me with a strong foundation in business and financial matters that are often integral to cases. I then attended Notre Dame Law School. During my time at law school, I actively engaged in various roles that show my commitment to the legal field. I participated in the Notre Dame Law School Clinic, where I represented clients in disputes with the IRS and appeared in federal court. My aptitude in legal research and writing led me to serve as the Executive Managing Editor of the esteemed Notre Dame Journal of Law, Ethics & Public Policy. I then took advantage of internships with respected judges, including Judge David Furman of the Colorado Court of Appeals and Judge Damon Leichty of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana. These experiences provided invaluable insights into the judicial process and courtroom dynamics. After graduating from law school, I had the privilege of working as a law clerk for Chief Justice Nathan B. Coats of the Colorado Supreme Court. I then entered private practice where I focused on appellate law, family law, and probate law. In 2021, I was appointed as a District Court Magistrate Judge for Colorado's 13th Judicial District, which is the largest district in Colorado in terms of geographic size. In this role, I have presided over thousands of hearings, addressing a wide range of cases, including family law and criminal matters. Due to this role, I have cut back significantly on my private practice work, ensuring my focus remains on delivering justice from the bench and providing high quality representation in the cases I do handle. As an active Vice President of the Colorado Bar Association and a member of the Denver Bar Association, I am well-established in the legal community. I represent clients in various courts across Colorado, excluding the 13th Judicial District, where I serve as a judicial officer.
