FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
my father had gotten a job to build a fence for someone. when i was about 13 he hired me to help him. my dad has always been a hard worker and working with him that day made me feel like a man and not a kid. years later as i got older i told my dad i wanted to start a small business doing fences, decks, retaining walls and pergolas. with no hesitation he gave me a truck he had just purchased so i can have a head start and years later Father & son fence and retaining wall service has been in business.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
contracts and money down, never a good idea. i have taken over many projects for customers who were not satisfied with their previous contractor. contracts are a way of control, in order to bound a customer to use the same contractor even if you are disappointed with their service. some contractors ask for a percentage down and then never show up or take months to complete a job that should have taken days. i never use contracts because i am 110% secure in the quality of my work and i always have satisfied customers at the end of all my projects.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
timing is the most important question. how soon will the project start and how much time will it take to complete. i have seen many contractors drag their feet. i believe in starting my projects and finishing them in a reasonable amount of time. convenience is the most important thing when providing my service to all my valued customers.
