When I shoot pictures, I trap a moment in time that I see. This might be an interaction or a glance. With subjects, I have found that feeling comfortable and finding the right angle without disturbing the scene are keys. If you can't do this, you can't succeed or excel at this photography thing. You have to move like a ghost to catch these things. I do that. Having great gear also helps me, but you have to know what you're doing. I'm clearly obsessed with getting the shot, no matter what; the shot comes first. Shooting is only half of the fun for me. Editing the pictures in post is also very interesting; things you don't see at the time suddenly show up. My shots make people happy. Accidentally, this brings me great happiness.
