- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Continuing education is huge in being a premier audio / video and home automation provider. As technology continues to advance, it is imperative that we keep up with training. Throughout the year, we send our technicians to a variety of training courses that are offered by various suppliers and manufacturers. We also try to attend courses that help our installers learn about tricks and various techniques in which they can always be improving on their productivity. Some of the brands we carry require factory training classes and we always ensure our entire staff is trained on these products. Once a year we also attend the Cedia Conference - it's the largest show in our industry. While attending Cedia we purchase 'training passes' and spend an entire week getting training on the latest products and technologies that will be released throughout the year. Last, we also provide technology based classes for interior designers and architects. Our classes are recognized by a variety of groups and assist in continuing education credits that are a requirement for architects and designers. It's always an awesome experience in which we also get to learn a lot from those attending our classes!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
There are two big items we recommend to those seeking services offered by providers like Tech Dwellings. First, make sure your provider is completely licensed and insured. It's great to save money, but it MUST be done through an insured provider! Don't be shy in asking for proof of insurance - there are a lot of 'man in a van' type guys out there. If they're not covered, you don't want them in your house. Second, when it comes to Audio / Video, make sure you bring in a trade professional who is experienced and knowledgable in AV. There are a lot of handymen out there advertising similar services but they don't have the industry expertise or the manufacturer support that true professionals have. Tech Dwellings sends its technicians through various training programs throughout the year and as Cedia members, we also participate in trade shows where we continue our industry expertise by learning about new products and technologies. By utilizing an industry professional, you're sure to get the up to date knowledge and expertise you deserve.
