Alex from 1979 did an incredible job removing carpet and installing Lifeproof flooring in my nearly 900 square foot basement. He had to work in multiple rooms, deal with stairs, brick facade on walls, raised closets, a recessed drain in the utility room floor, and bathroom fixtures, and he handled it all like a pro. He worked extremely quickly (in July heat) and was one of the most responsive professionals I’ve interacted with. He even installed new baseboards in areas where they’d been previously left out and replaced the wax ring at the base of the toilet in the bathroom upon finding that the old one was worn. AND, he created a custom piece of stair nosing out of real walnut that he sourced and stained to fit the oddly sized top step and match the Lifeproof stair nosing we’d found together for the other stairs. His pricing was fair and totally upfront, and all communications were honest and straightforward. I’d recommend him any time.

I hired Mr. 1979 to rip up some recent water damaged carpet, pad, and tack. Despite the holiday season, he puntual, and finished the work in a timely manner. Recruiting a handy man online is always hit or miss. Mr. 1979 was a hit. I learned that he has many other skills and is a general contractor. Will hire him to do some other work around the house soon. Recommended.
