Amber has given me a ton of inspiration on where to take my memoir. She is honest about what works and what doesn't, without being pushy. Her edits were spot on, but the best part about working with her is her infectious energy, which is evident both when meeting her in person and through her written feedback. With her excitement about my work, she has renewed my own desire to push myself as a writer.Oct 15, 2018

I honestly can't believe I found someone as amazing as Amber. I was in the process of writing a business plan for a restaurant and needed someone to tie it all together. Amber was able to edit, lay out and even put the financials together for me in a very professional way. She was also very pleasant to work with. I never write reviews, but this one is well worth it!!!Jan 8, 2019Verified
After several independent reviews of my memoir, it was evident that if I wanted to take my book to the next level, it would be wise to engage the skills and knowledge of a professional editor. Even though I had read the manuscript too many times to remember, the reviewers pointed out a few spelling and punctuation miscues. I was trying to avoid the cost of paying an editor for something that I thought I knew and could do well. It turns out there were editing concerns that I had never encountered and therefore, was unaware how they might impact the reader. At our first meeting, Amber listened intently to my concerns, confirmed what I wanted from an editor and also confirmed what I didn't want. She shared with me her experience and expertise, assuring me that she was highly qualified. Amber explained her approach was to read and edit a small amount of the manuscript and then to send it to me for review. With my "go ahead," she would resume and continue editing in the same manner throughout the book until the editing was complete. Such an approach was reassuring and perfect for me. Amber was true to her word, was everything I had hoped for and more. We were in continual communication throughout the process. At one point, when I became overwhelmed and a bit apprehensive, Amber sat by my side and explained each and every correction. She was always honoring and made mention of her own personal connections to parts of my story. In summary, I highly recommend Amber. She is thorough, comprehensive, skilled and very knowledgable. Having trusted her completely, I am now ready to take my manuscript to the publisher, confident that it is perfect in every way.Sep 14, 2018Verified
Amber has a wonderful editing ability. Not only does she know her structure and grammar, but she also has an amazing way of asking questions and examining the larger issues as well. I hired her for a fiction project and she made the work immeasurably better. She's an amazing person to work with and my manuscript is SO much better after her sharp eye has been on it. She not only paid attention to the details, she noticed patterns, themes and motifs. She brought repetitions to my attention and asked me questions not just to clarify but to bring what was essential into the light. She's professional, talented, kind and wonderful. I couldn't recommend her more highly!Feb 9, 2019
Working with Amber at Tadpole Press has been fantastic. She is quick to understand project needs and goals, facilitating these in a professional and motivational manner. She has helped me from struggling graduate student to successful master of science. I highly recommend her for anybody who needs meticulous editing work or a writing coach.Feb 4, 2019
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I charge an hourly rate based upon the type of work requested, so you can set your budget and choose how much or how little time you’d like me to put in. For my editing and proofreading projects, I am typically able to give a rough estimate of total project length after the first hour of editing. Curious what this would look like for your project? Just ask!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? Before starting a project, I typically want to know what your goal for the project is, whether you have done any other editing or coaching, and what your deadline is. Once we are on the same page, we will each sign a short contract and I'll get started immediately! For speaking engagements, we can discuss your intended audience, setup requirements, logistics, and answer any initial questions you may have.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have a B.A. in English, a J.D. in law, and nearly a decade of experience in the legal field. I received the highest grade in my class on my legal writing exam in law school. I am a member of several professional groups for writers and editors. I also attend and present at conferences about all aspects of the writing, editing, and coaching processes.
