Introduction: Hey there, I’m Kayla! I am the face behind the cakes. Sparkles Bakery is ran in a commercial kitchen in Highlands Ranch. I had always wanted to become an artist but never thought it would come of anything. My sophomore year of high school I cam across Food Network Challenge and I fell in love with the concept. Baking is truly an art. So I attended Johnson and Wales University in Denver, CO where I got my AS in Baking and Pastry Arts. I love what I do, I am very passionate and very dedicated. I love making people happy by one simple thing…. CAKE!!

I found Kayla very responsive, in the beginning. For a week I waited for her to call me so we could schedule a time to go over my order for our wedding cake. After 5 days, she never called me back or sent me a message. Not very reliable.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I went to Johnson and Wales University and got my associates is baking and pastry arts, while I was there I got my food safety certificate as well!

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

The funny thing about how I got here, is I didn’t always want to do this.. I actually wanted to be an artist at first and then I strayed away from that because I figured that wasn’t a profession and went into wanting to become a forensic scientist. I know completely different.. that didn’t last very long at all! One day I was watching food network challenge and I was so interested by it. And if any of you don’t know what that show is/was it’s a competition where they compete to see which one can make the best looking cake. Essentially that’s what it is about. I never knew people could make cake into art.. and it hit me! This is what I want to do with my life. Cake is a form of art! And I love art!

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
