- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I am currently offering only online lessons or lessons here in Mercer Island, in the evening. Online lessons are $35/hr. In-person lessons on Mercer Island are $50/hr. Weekly online or in-person lessons are great for someone whose goal is to be *Fluent*. They understand that this takes time and patience. The idea of establishing a relationship with a teacher feels rewarding and enriching to them. They enjoy seeing a teacher every week and practicing conversational skills with them.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Emailing can be easier for language learners sometimes than the phone. I can communicate at first by email or on the phone if language permits. I like to send paperwork to be filled out via email prior to our first lesson. I also request students to make a list of the things they would like to improve upon, what are their interests, and the way they like to learn (visually, through listening, or outdoors, for example). From there, we will have our first lesson where I will be testing you and just getting a feel for your language level and what you would like to focus on during our time together. Every three months after that, I will also test you to see how you are doing. I also like to check in with my students at that time to see if there is anything they would like to do differently. During the first couple weeks we will work on gathering books and supplies.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a TEFL certificate and a master's degree in counseling. I've been teaching for five years privately and also through two different companies.
