I had Marlon install a concrete patio in my backyard, and extend the side walkway both length and width. The process was easy, affordable and quick. Marlon's bid was very reasonable and when was on time for the appointment. I would not hesitate to hire Marlon for other projects and would recommend his work. I love my new patio.

Steve at Mountain Top Construction saved the day. I've never filed an insurance claim and was apprehensive about doing so. Steve walked me through the process step by step as well as ensuring me how smoothly the renovations would be. It took a couple of weeks start to finish, but now my home has a new roof, new paint, gutters and a new window. I did not spend one penny out of pocket and every time I pull in my driveway, there is no question my home has gone up in value. I have referred him to several of my friends who had similar results much less the referral fee he gave me for each one! Thank you Thumbtack for putting me in contact with Steve.

The company refinished an existing floor and installed a new wood floor in our condo. They arrived on time as scheduled, performed the work in an exceptional manner and completed the work in accordance with their proposal. We would definitely use them again.

Quality work, punctual, responsive, and an overall professional contractor. We have a 100+ foot long driveway and the original 1942 concrete needed replacing. Even with the shorter January days, Bobby and his crew did the entire demo and pour in 3 days. It was impressive enough that the site manager of the new home under construction across the street (with 30 years experience) complimented Bobby and his crew on how well they worked together and the quality of the work. That's a much better compliment than I can give! Bobby was very responsive, answering my texts or calls at all times. Even now, one week after the project has been completed, Bobby is responsive and wants to walk the site with me to follow up and address any concerns. Thank you Bobby, and A3, for a job that exceeded expectations. Mike

Easy to work with, started in a timely fashion and finished in a timely fashion. Price was what we expected and the finished product is amazing! We had stamped concrete driveway repaired and a new sidewalk (stamped, also) and porch replaced. Coloured concrete and they matched it as close as humanly possible. The guys were all friendly and worked hard.

Hugh and his team did a great job from beginning to end. They poured a new concrete walkway and resurfaced the concrete porch. Both look great. The also fixed and resurfaced our backyard concrete patio which is a huge improvement to the overall look of the backyard. Hugh was professional to work with, as was his entire crew. Good guys! I'd hire them again in a second. Well done!

Eric and his father were an exceptionally fantastic team to work with. Not once did they bring a bad attitude to the job, took care of every single question or concern we had, and it was very comfortable to be around each of their team members. The work they did pouring our concrete patio and sidewalk around out house to the drive way was superb! They took care of sprinkler work and restored our backyard to better than it was before they arrived. I could not have asked for a better team to come to our home and bless us with great work that fit our budget and wonderful people. I will recommend them to anyone looking for concrete work and I already have! Thanks again Eric and Raul! Your work has changed our backyard and the safety of our children while playing back there!

Estimate and scheduling the job was prompt. They demolished old concrete, and installed a driveway, sidewalk, and patio. The patio was stamped concrete. Very pleased with the quality of the work, especially the patio. They accomodated many small add on details. The cleanup following the job was less than desired; used my decorative rock to clean their tools leaving a big concrete stain.

We did not find CIP Consultants through Thumbtack, but our experience was so positive that I wanted to write a review here. They replaced our patio, side walkway, garage floor, driveway, and front stoop. They also added a path to the front sidewalk. CIP Consultants did an absolutely fantastic job, and we love all the work they did! Grant is professional, shows up when he says he will, is always onsite with the crew, and pays attention to all the details. The team was friendly and kept the job site clean. They use quality materials and do the job right. We highly recommend CIP Consultants!

Ricky Morris provided a new window to the living room and new hardwood flooring to the family room on concrete slab including window and baseboard trim and casing. I am happy to recommend him for the work he did for us and can say he is one of the best contractors with whom I have ever worked. All of the measures described above would receive a 10/10 rating and I am looking forward to having him complete some other home projects that have been languishing at my hand over the past few years. He is courteous and knowledgeable and a pleasure with whom to work. Jeff B.

I am Nels Sostrom and had Les do some work for me around the yard at my place at 615 Oakhurst Drive in Cheyenne, Wyoming. I was really impressed and satisfied with the work Les did taking down the old fence around the back yard and replacing it. The new fence was very well build using deck screws rather than nails. He replaced the 4x4 posts with treated posts into concrete, connecting them together with 2x4 stringers to which he attached the vertical picket slats with rust proof screws. I was also impressed of how Les replaced the old utility shed with a new and larger shed. In one short day he cut the roof off the old shed into sections and placed it into the dumpster. Then he cut the rest of the old shed into pieces and placed that into the dumpster. The old shed had a concrete floor and short footing. The ground around the footing had filled up until water would run into the floor area. Les designed the new shed for which he had obvious experience. Rather than using the old foundation as it was originally intended he ingenuously build a new foundation setting on top of the old foundation using treated timbers. The new shed is a beauty. It is much more useful. Tall enough to stand up in and with much more storage. I like barn look with hipped roof with shingles. Les is very nice to work with. He is easy to talk to and works very efficiently and cleaned up nicely after the work was done

Carlos powered washed and resealed my stamped concrete patio then installed a sidewalk from the front yard to my back grass. The job looks great and was a reasonable price. Carlos went the extra mile and helped move some slate slabs plus some very heavy furniture off the patio. For me, 5 stars is given only for perfection. Would give 4 1/2 if available. I will call him again when the patio needs resealing.

I hired Tom at Prime Site to remove and replace approximately 1500 square feet of concrete in our garage. He and his team did an outstanding job. They were fast, efficient, and the job looks great. The concrete is beautiful. In fact, after they finished, I hired them again to excavate a large area around the garage to help with a drainage problem (the main cause of the concrete problem in the first place). Again, they were knowledgeable and professional. and completed the work in a timely manner. I would highly recommend prime site for your concrete and excavating needs. Steve

Would definitely recommend his work to anyone needing concrete. We had a new sidewalk and driveway installed and it looks great.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good concrete contractor?

Concrete contractors pave driveways, build foundations for homes, install retaining walls, create hardscaping for front and back yards, build concrete steps, and so much more. When searching for a driveway contractor, read reviews from previous customers and ask for referrals. Ask the contractor for photos of examples of their work that’s similar to what you want. Confirm they will get the proper permits so your driveway is up to code. Hiring a driveway contractor to install concrete can average $5-$6 per square foot, or more, depending on where you live, the slope and grade of the driveway site, and regional labor costs. For a new asphalt driveway, the cost could average from $3-5 per square foot. A standard concrete driveway of 500 square feet averaging $5-$6 per square foot would cost $2,500-$3,000 — so it pays to research someone who will do quality work. Excavation and grading work can increase your cost per square foot significantly. Ask whether the contractor provides a materials and labor warranty for their work. Some cracking of the concrete may occur as it settles, but you should talk with your contractor about any structural or aesthetic concerns you have. When hiring a concrete contractor, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

What do paving contractors do?

Paving contractors can be hired to install a concrete or asphalt driveway at your home, office or property. They can also repave an asphalt or concrete driveway that has been damaged by time, weather or heavy loads. When you are looking for a driveway contractor, request quotes from at least three professionals who are in good standing and have great customer reviews. They should do a site visit and write you a bid, detailing the work involved, materials needed, approximate length of the project and estimated cost.

The site for your new driveway will determine costs and the work required for your contractor. First, the ground must be excavated to lay a clear path. This means removing any trees, bushes and stumps. Next, the driveway contractor will grade the area, making a level surface for the concrete or asphalt. To ensure proper drainage, driveway contractors should install a sub-base of compacted gravel (or similar) 4 inches-8 inches deep, depending on your soil type. Then the concrete or asphalt may be poured and smoothed over the top. Your driveway contractor should recommend an appropriate sealant for your climate and advise you on curing time. When hiring a paving contractor, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to redo a concrete driveway?

Replacing or renovating a damaged or time-worn asphalt or concrete driveway can boost your curb appeal and add to your home value. If your concrete driveway is nearing 20 years or more, it may be wise to invest in an entirely new driveway, instead of redoing your current one. Asphalt driveways average 15-20 years of life, so if you start needing major repairs around the 15 year mark, weigh the pros and cons of repairing or replacing it. Request bids from two to three driveway contractors to determine pricing and project scope, and check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • The national average cost to hire a concrete specialist is $2,750, but that price can vary greatly depending on the work needed to repair and resurface your concrete driveway, the square footage of the project, current costs of concrete, and regional labor rates.
  • Driveway contractors average $2-$3 per square foot to smooth and resurface your asphalt driveway.
  • Resurfacing concrete driveways averages $3-$10 per square foot. Pricing can depend on repairs needed, project size and geographic location.
  • Nationally, the average cost for resurfacing a 500-square-foot driveway ranges from $2,000 to $5,000.
  • Sealant for a concrete drive can cost $20-$80 per gallon.
  • Sealant for an asphalt drive averages 25 cents per square foot.
