FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I originally graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA in Psychology. I was top of my class in social psychology and believe this is why working with people appeals so much to me. I worked on my Masters in Education while living in South Dakota. My time in education has provided me with skills that are unique in the photography world and an asset in working with families. I have worked on my Commercial Photography BFA at Rocky MT College of Arts and Design. I also attend photography workshops, work with mentors and go to conferences to keep my digital skills sharp. When you work with me you are getting more than simply a photographer.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I decided to go into family photography, because I had children of my own and I have worked in the classroom. I have a strong fine arts background, but after having children shelved my pastels, charcoal and pencils and embraced photography! I have never looked back. Photography is all about composition and emotion. It is a great field to work in.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
There are many, many photographers! I myself am overwhelmed with the sheer amount in my field. First, know what you want. The type of shoot, your price range and your style. Second, take this knowledge, find photographers you think fit your criteria. Critically look at each photographer. View their work! Ask for references. I am always open to have a chat if you need advice. I can also recommend photographers other than myself.
