Introduction: I pride myself on training and treating every dog as if it were my own. Every dog is unique and therefore no one training style works for every dog. With 12 years of hands on training experience and learning under two different top mentors I've handled 100's of dogs to implement what works for every dog as an individual. We can handle everything from the most severe behavioral problems such as aggression or fearfulness to basic and advanced off-leash obedience.

Our puppy Cali is just a year old. We got her when she was 8 months old and she had no training while also being very gentle. We sent her to Doug, not because she was a bad dog but because we wanted her to be very well trained. During the evaluation Doug taught her to jump into a car, before we had to drag her to the car and lift her in (very hard to do while 8 months pregnant). Three weeks spent with Doug and Cali can do so much! She knows “heel” and will even do it while off leash with the electric collar. She is excellent at “leave it.” She stopped being picky about her food. She knows: “off,” “bed,” “sit,” “down,” and is much faster at picking up new tricks. She is still a puppy so there is still a lot we need to teach her, but Doug gave her the building blocks and confidence to learn quickly. It only took a couple days after she came home from Doug for her to learn to ring the bell on the back door whenever she wants to go outside! I highly recommend working with Doug!

Doug is extremely knowledgeable and even more patient. He’s very thorough in his evaluation and executed a plan to our exact needs! We have used Doug to board and train as well and we’re thrilled with the results. And Hank was too!

We had one of our male bassets go first and he was a tough one, but what a difference when he came home. We now are continuing with the training. We have our female basset with him now; looking forward to results when she gets home in April.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
What I always first like to do is set up an evaluation to meet the dog as well as the owners. It gives me the best idea of what the individual dog needs and what the owners needs and goals are for their dog
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have apprenticed under 2 top trainers for a total of 3 years in the beginning. I continually take seminars and have contact with some of the best trainers in the world to better provide dogs and their owners with the best ways of communicating with one another
