Both my son and I have been Alex's students for years. He is not only the best guitar teacher we have had, but he may very well be the best teacher we have ever had. My son started with him after bad experiences with other guitar teachers. My son, who was about 9 years old at the time, was just uninterested in classical music. Our friends had raved about Alex. When we first met, Alex asked my son what music he liked. My son said he liked the Rolling Stones. So Alex taught him the riff to Satisfaction. My son was hooked. Alex slowly sequed from rock to classical. Eight years later my son is still taking classical guitar (and he also plays rock). Alex is such a talented teacher because he is so flexible. He can teach students whatever they want to learn. He is the opposite of rigid and doctrinaire. Students love him because he works with them. He is fun. Moreover, he is patient. Incredibly patient. In my eight years of being around him, I have never seen him lose his cool. Despite his flexibility and patience, he is very rigorous. You will get the full Suzuki experience, but you won't feel like it is rammed down your throat. I was so jealous that my son was getting such great instruction that I signed up for lessons myself. I started with classical and did that for close to three years. I switched to jazz and blues improvisation. I have never enjoyed myself more. I am a teacher myself, a philosopher actually, and am very curious about theory. Alex not only teaches me how to improvise, but also the theory behind it. There is no question that I ask him that he either does not know the answer or researches and comes back with the answer. One last story which will show you how great Alex is as a teacher. I recently cut my index finger badly on my fret hand, so could not practice guitar. I asked Alex if he could teach me drums until my finger healed. He not only gave me a bunch of drum lessons over the next several weeks, but he did this over Zoom. The degree of difficulty was extremely high, but Alex not only met the challenge, he did it with great cheer. I feel like I am not only a much better guitar player because of Alex, but a better teacher as well. My highest recommendation.

I’ve been working with Alex for ~8 months now and I have enjoyed every minute of his teaching. I am currently a medical student and as such wanted to round out my interests and develop my skills in the arts. However being a medical student, I am quite busy. That said, Alex has always been very attentive and aware of that fact and has done his best to work around my needs as a student of the classical guitar second and as a student of medicine first. Additionally, Alex is wonderful at nurturing an interest in classical music without squashing it, something I believe is a rare talent in all forms of education. When I started playing the guitar I had no idea I would get so far, and I’m currently working through the Suzuki method as well as an original composition by a young professional guitarist that I never dreamed I’d be able to play. I have no doubt that you will find an excellent teacher in Alex and will grow as a musical artist under his care. Note: During, this COVID crisis, Alex has done an amazing job protecting his students and has been holding teleconferenced lessons which I continue to take weekly. I appreciate his dedication to teaching as well as to the safety of others.

I started playing music at a late age and I honestly thought there's no hope for me. Alex changed that and helped me find my path in the guitar world and slowly but surely improve my skills. He is Well versed in theory and in all sorts of guitar techniques. Thank you Alex.

Alex has taught my son classical guitar for the past 7 years. With Alex's expert instruction, his remarkable ability to maintain and channel enthusiasm, and his gentle prodding, my son has gone from the very basics to advanced concert repertoire, and has had a great time doing so. Bravo, Alex!
