I have worked with HainesDesign for the better part of a decade on various projects with different clients. So when I needed a logo, website and blog designed, I called upon them. Today, regardless of clients' interest in my work, the first question they ask me is, "Who designed your logo? Who created your blog? They're wonderful!" Of course, I tell them HainesDesign. I then go on to tell them that this small design firm is truly a design powerhouse. Their work is firmly rooted in first understanding the nuts and bolts of strategy, then designing to the highest possible standard. This is a company that never "mails it in." They understand that clean, clear, uncluttered and simple design is not easy, but is uncommonly effective. HainesDesign truly goes the extra mile to ensure that clients are not only served well, but they get what all clients want yet few can see coming: the unexpected. Something new yet with a sense of tradition; something fresh that works hard on a decent budget. I would recommend HainesDesign to any company that wants a true partner who won't just tell you what you want to hear, but will tell—and show—you what works best.

As the Communications Director for the Essex Land Trust (Connecticut), I have been working with Steve Haines of Haines Design for approximately 3 years and am pleased to say that the quality, creativity and professionalism which I have seen are outstanding. Steve has very high standards, his work always is impactful and he succeeds in creating distinctive overall results. We have worked on a number of projects including website design, development of highly effective posters, and in publishing a greatly admired guide to our Land Trust properties. He has consistently produced a well thought out, colorful and pleasing to the eye product which has been very favorably received by both our membership and the broader community.

Beresford Research teamed with Haines Design to developed our corporate logo five years ago and, later, our Web site. The clean and intelligent design of both the logo and Web site communicates professionalism. Haines Design creates this intelligent design by applying the intelligence of its principals to the study of how and where the design(s) will be used before suggesting any solutions. We recommend Haines Design without qualification.

Barbara Haines designed my website – wisewomennow.com – last year and has continued to guide and advise me as I maintain, use and change the site. She is a talented professional and a joy to work with. Barbara knows how to take your good idea and make it better – and make doing it great fun.

Barbara Haines designed my Web site – LeeMaysGardeningLife.com. Exceptionally creative, she wanted to know colors and design elements that resonated with me in my home and garden, so she could incorporate them in the Web design. That information, combined with Barbara's technical and communications skills, resulted in a site that made me a very satisfied customer.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Keep an open mind. First understand the problem, describe it clearly and then allow the professionals to do their job. Good design results from an open collaboration between the client and the designer. Do not expect a designer to read your mind. Mutual respect and trust are the starting points of all successful design collaborations.
