FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Every project is different, but there are basically three different ways I price jobs: Fixed price, time/material, or a mix of both. FIXED PRICE: For small to large projects with a set of plans, and open walls (or an open attic/basement for certain jobs) I will provide an itemized estimate for the project that includes labor and materials. TIME/MATERIAL: For service calls where something isn't working, or perhaps you would like move a wall and I don't know what we will find, then I will change a service fee of $60 to come out, do a walkthrough and provide a quote. If you accept we credit the $60 into the invoice. MIXED: Let's say part you are doing a bathroom remodel. For the part of the job that is straight forward such as exhaust fan, and recessed lighting and you took down you ceiling or I have access from the attic, then I will give you a fixed price for that, but then the wall that you are knocking down with a few outlets, that will be time/materials.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically we will talk on the phone so we can figure out what is needed, for everything besides troubleshooting I usually come out to look at the project, then send a quote through email. If agreed upon, then we set a date to start the project. For larger projects we require signing a contract and payments in accordance to the contract.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I did four years of tech school, followed by a four year apprenticeship in Stamford at Vogue Electric Inc where I got my license. Worked at the company for a total of seven years doing everything from pool wiring, smart switches, commercial and residential jobs. After that worked another four years for Aerial Electric running a crew that ranged from six to over 30 electricians building apartment buildings in Stamford, Norwalk, and Danbury.
