This is not a typical review, but our association is unique and I trust that yours would be the same if you were to select Irene Design as your consultant. We met Irene at a home show. We had been thinking about remodeling the interior of our home, but wanted a design consultant to work with us. We contracted with Irene Design to be our consultant. During the first visit to our home to take pictures and discuss with us, what we liked and disliked, I pointed out to her that the carrying partition on the first flow did not run parallel to the outside wall. Thus, any pattern in the flooring would also appear to diverge from the wall. Irene, immediately suggested that the tiles be installed at a 45 degree angle, which totally eliminated the problem. We then continued to work with Irene on the layout of the bathrooms, the wallpaper selection and the carpeting to mention only a small portions of the interactions we had with her in arriving at a design that met our needs and tastes. We had differences with Irene, but in each case Irene was always open to our suggestions. We would sit and discuss the pros and cons of each change and were always able to arrive at a decision that best met our needs. Once, we had finalized the design, we prepared a bid specification setting out exactly what we expected the contractor to do and what we would supply. This bid specification was given to 4 separate contractors including Irene Design. It should be noted that Irene had assured us that she would work with whichever contractor we selected to assure us that the design, such as the tile layouts in the bathrooms would be done as she had planned. While all four contractor bids were fairly close, Irene Designs bid was slightly less, so we selected them to perform the construction. At the same time we had also contracted with an electrician and a painter/wallpaper hanger. The electrician did an excellent job, however the painter made some serious errors in prepping the stair case walls for papering. After several attempts by the paper hanger to repair the problems, it became evident that all the paper in the stair case would have to be remove, the wall repaired and primed correctly and then repaper the whole area. Irene Design, on learning of this said that they would do the repair work at cost to help us out of this difficult situation. For these reasons, we highly recommend Irene Design if you are considering a remodeling project. If you would like to discuss our experience with Irene Design, we would welcome your calls

We hired Irene Design for our basement finish project. Our goal was to have a finished basement that would provide enough room for entertainment to fit a bar and a pool table and would also have a guest room with a half bath. Initially Irene met with us to understand our ideas and then provided her own suggestions on how the space in our basement can be used in the most efficient way. We especially appreciated her showing us a few different 3D models with various design options. She also made her recommendations regarding specific materials for the project and helped to select them as well. The work itself was performed in a timely manner and we had our basement ready for our New Year party! Working with Irene was a very pleasant experience as she has an ability to make your renovation job enjoyable and relaxing. We will definitely hire Irene for our next house renovation project.

I worked with Irene Designs to develop the concept for Finish Basement. All work has been completed remotely. I have provided scaled blueprints and photos of the existing space alongside with our ideas. Irene Samson created several plans with three-dimensional drawings illustrating every corner of our future room. It was cool since my wife and I are not so visual. We were able to make our choice having a clear vision. Construction was a breeze. We knew exactly what to tell our contractor to do. Irene also designed built-in shelving around our fireplace. We simply gave her drawings to our local carpenter to do the work. The whole design phase took about three weeks. We communicated in Skype several times and Irene showed us her computer screen with different design options.

We had our master bathroom remodeled and are very happy with the result. It was a very small bathroom with only one sink and a fiberglass bathtub. We could not even imagine how to make this bathroom bigger and better, but thanks to Irene's architectural expertise and her great ideas, we ended up with a beautiful new bathroom plus a linen closet. Gene and his crew did a great job gutting the bathroom and remodeling it. We had help from Irene with the design part of the tiles and thanks to a job well done by Dennis it all looks beautiful. The heated floor was expertly installed and is radiating cozy heat. We are grateful for the expert advise and suggestions along the way ie. flooring, tiling and installation of cabinets and plumbing ideas. Also the whole crew took special care to keep things as clean as it is possible, when you do a major job like this. They always cleaned the area at the end of the day! i would highly recommend Irene Designs for any home improvement!!

I worked with Irene Samson on the remodeling of my Raised-Ranch style home. She showed me several designs and layouts which helped with the decision making process as I could see what the end result would look like. Irene also suggested some other useful and decorative ideas and assisted me in selecting materials to my taste and style by paying close attention to detail currently in the house. Irene also gave me various ideas to consider possibly for the future. She was not "pushy" but wanted to bring up some ideas that I may not consider on my own. Irene also ensured that any usable doors, windows, closet doors or whatever that I already had were used if at all possible to save on costs. I enjoyed working with Irene, I would use her services again and recommend her for any remodeling projects. She has great creative ideas to share, her prices are reasonable and she is a pleasure to work with. Also I would like to comment on the great workers and craftsman associated with Irene Designs. From the demolition of walls and the construction of walls, installing windows where there were no windows previously, repairing my hardwood floors where the walls were taken down to the staining and installation of doors, plumbing, heating, electrical, plus a variety of other related items. And the tile work outstanding!!!!!! Wall tiles, floors, showers, I cant say enough about how beautiful the tile work is. All the workers were very polite, considerate, friendly, and very good at what they do. They cleaned up after themselves each day and I had no hesitation having them in my home. I would without a doubt use them all again.

How did you get started doing this type of work?
My favorite game as a child was to take a piece of graph paper and to draw floor plans for my doll's dream house. I would position a bed, a dresser, a table with chairs and envision my dolls living there. I was actually designing homes before I even knew of the profession. My first college degree was economics and foreign languages. However I have been helping my friends and relatives to design and decorate their homes my entire life. At some point I just realized that Interior Design is something that I want to do full time. This is when I went back to College and earned my 6 year degree in Interior Design. I have been running my own Remodeling business ever since. After relocating to the US in 2004, my husband and I started our Remodeling company in Manchester, CT. My husband has his engineering and contractor's background. We have several professionals of different trades who work with us as a team.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We specialize mostly in Bathroom Remodeling and Finish Basement. Irene Designs has been selected as the Best Bathroom Remodeler of Manchester,CT in the year of 2014. We are also really good at Open Floor projects and other jobs that require professional and creative space planning and 3D renderings. We do full house renovations, build additions, decks and perform smaller jobs like interior painting, cabinet installation, built-in furniture, flooring, carpentry, etc.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Look for someone you can relate to. Remodeling is like a short-term marriage. It will only work if both are on the same wave length.
