Introduction: Melissa Bivelacque is a 2003 graduate of Gal-Mar Academy of Cosmetology in North Haven, Connecticut with a certificate in esthetics. Since CT does not require estheticians to be licensed, Melissa went ahead and received her esthetics license from the State of Rhode Island. She has worked as an esthetician, salon and spa manager, day spa owner, esthetics educator as well as a leader and mentor to many. Her favorite treatments are anything to help someone feel good about themselves. May it be the silky smooth feeling of your most recent wax, or the deep exfoliation in your facial, Melissa enjoys making everyone feel good about the skin they are in. Currently Melissa is sharing space in Newington, Connecticut where she sees clients for waxing and facial services. She is also a certified educator for Beauty by Bombshell and teaches wax classes through out various states. Melissa was a 2018 participant in The Skin Games international skincare competition that was held on April 7, 2018 in San Ramon, CA. She was selected as one of the finalists in the Acne and Pigmentation categories. She took home a 5th place trophy for the Peoples Choice awards. Melissa is now busy planning her case studies for the 2019 competition to be held in Las Vegas in June 2019. Someone who comes to me with acne and doesn’t want to go on medication from their dermatologist, or the client with lines and wrinkles that doesn’t want injections. It’s ok, you don’t have to do those things to get results! I also have clients that come to me just to relax and there is a lot to be said for that also, mental clarity will also effect your overall state of wellbeing so having facials regularly can help you in many aspects.

Melissa is so delightful and professional. She is very welcoming and warm. She educated me on everything she is doing and how to help my skin. She uses PCA skin care products with other great lines which is a big deal to me. She used this machine to remove my damaged sun spots. I've also had this XO8 Stem Cell facial which left me my face look amazing.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always suggest for new skincare clients to schedule a spa facial. It’s a good starting point for me to analyze and work with your skin before I make further suggestions on products to use and recommendations for future services.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
600 hours in basic esthetics with certification. Over 35 advanced esthetics courses including skincare and waxing advanced certifications. I am a certified trainer for Bombshell Wax. I taught other estheticians basic esthetics for 3 years.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
In 2002 I was looking for my purpose. A friend approached me and said she was going to school for “esthetics” and I had no idea what that was. I had never even had a facial in my life, but I was intrigued by the beauty industry since my grandmother was a cosmetologist. I was always in the salon with her from a very young age and anyways took her beauty advice. So I signed up with my friend and became an Esthetician.
