FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Yes, I believe in being transparent for my clients. All pricing information for a watercolor paintibg can be found on my website at lauradonofrio.com, under the "commissions" tab. You will find my prices are competitive for the industry. If my client is thinking of something other than a watercolor painting, such as a mural or a drawing, I would need to find out more specifications before I can give a price. I've also been requested to direct painting parties, and hand-write loopy cursive addresses for invitations, which have all been fun!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
A new client will tell me what they would like to be painted, I sometimes work by photo reference, or I can create sketches of what my client would like if they wish for something more illustrated. Together we figure out a size they will like, whether it will be black and white or in color, how many people in the painting, and any other specifications they may wish. Ill keep in touch during the process, sending photo updates. Once the painting or drawing is finished I will speak with my client with any final changes they may wish. If the client lives somewhat close, I like to personally deliver my original works of art so I can meet and thank my clients personally. But if they live far I can always ship the painting to them.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a member of the Connecticut Watercolor Society, and have an Bachelor's of art degree. However, my refining of watercolor portraiture came after college. I just kept on painting until I reached a level that I felt was professional enough to do commissioned works, especially when it came to my realistic portraits.
