FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $40 dollars for a half-hour lesson.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Most importantly, I take the time to really learn what my students want to get out of lessons with me. As an example, some students want to just enjoy the guitar, jam around a bonfire, and make music with their friends. The instructional avenue that I would take with that type of student is very different from a student who is looking to get a scholarship to study guitar at a university. For me, it is critical to get a sense of the strengths, weaknesses, and tastes of my new students in the beginning, to really maximize each and every lesson!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BM in Music Performance from Western Connecticut State University, and have been teaching private lessons for 19 years now. I'm in two professional musical groups, as well as performing as a session player on other musicians' albums, and in many pit orchestras for musicals. In addition, I tutored all the music students at Naugatuck Valley Community College in Waterbury, Connecticut in every music-related subject, including Music Theory, Ear Training, Sight-Singing for over 5 years, which has informed a lot of my methodology.
