We own a 1974-built Adirondack contemporary which we bought 2 years ago. We were in the midst of planning a renovation of the entire exterior - siding, roofing, insulation, windows, skylights, doors, patio, decking - when our architect "flaked" on us and abandoned the project. We approached Agni about taking over the project and finishing the "last few details" from the previous architect's plan. Rather than simply finishing the previous plan, she pointed out design flaws within it; specifically the use of too many materials - and the wrong type of materials - for use in a modern home. 1 month before the contractors were due to arrive, we took Agni's advice, scrapped the plan from the high-priced Danbury-based architects, and started afresh with a design that she came up with from scratch. The result was awesome. Not only does it complement the "bones" of the original house far more the previous plan did, it came in almost $20,000 cheaper! Not to say that it scrimped on materials - but it used premium materials judiciously. The results are a tongue and groove cedar and hardie-reveal panel modern home that fits our wooded location in Weston perfectly. Agni is a dream to work with and a true friend.

I hired APK to renovate my living room and dining area. Their designer was amazing! Always available to help me out with brilliant ideas and solutions. She was also very good with the workers involved in the project, even after hours. A dedicated person who really took pride in her work. I was impressed by the way she worked, the people she recommended and her over all dedication. I'd definitely hire them again!

Agni was wonderful both inside and out. She not only came up with beautiful ideas for the outside of our house, her sense of color and style brought both pop and warmth to the inside. I cannot begin to describe how different everything looks and feels. Agni was always available, whether it be questions regarding paint color, rugs, furniture or artwork. She helped us turn a house into a home.

I bought my open plan house from a developer and after some research I hired APK to separate the kitchen, dining room and TV room. Their designer listened to what I needed and suggested several ways that those needs could be met. The end result was exactly what I was looking for. Great designer!

I couldn't stop redesigning spaces in my head. I simply had to study Space Planning and Interior Design.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Check references, ask to see previous work but most of all go with your feeling when you meet the designer in person. If they seem interested in your project and are willing to go the extra mile to help, you have found your designer.
