Introduction: Cape Cod Canine provides in home training, dog walking, pet nanny, day care and coaching services for all types of animal companions and the humans they own. As animal lovers ourselves, we understand the concerns regarding your pet's needs and the safety of your personal property. Your cherished pet is always our number one concern Our Company is founded in Connecticut as Pawfessional Pet Services by a Cape Cod local and therefore is VERY proud to now be part of people's homes on Cape Cod, Massachusetts sharing special time with your canine companions in the familiar towns of my personal homeland. My family and I are "from the Cape" and nothing makes me more excited than to re home myself with my business "at home". Cape Cod Canine is a local Cape Company dedicated to your pets, their sensitivities, emotional and physical needs. Pets needs include more than "exercise". A canine companion not only needs to "go out" for elimination and "go for a walk" for exercise, they also require human interaction, companionship and plenty of external stimuli. If that stimulation is a negative experience, the pet is not benefitting from what you hope for as an exciting "day out". Cape Cod Canine focuses on the individuality and needs of each pet that is part of our daily routine. Our day includes regular daily walks at your home, around your neighborhood or locally at a park or public area. During these walks we map our route via "Path" (a free Iphone app) so that you as the owner can see your companion's walk and playtime during the day from your phone by visiting our "Path". We add photos of your pet and times of arrival and departure. Our half and full day nanny programs include just that, half or full day of fun! We pick up your pal in the early part of the day and they spend part or all day in our "Pawfessional" care. This program includes several outings at different locations. Socialization is a huge part of the day, meeting other dogs, people and just having a great time out and about. We visit the beaches, parks, main streets and pet shops. Attention and Focus Training, Behavior and Basic Manners are addressed on a regular basis during the full or half day excursions, if you can't walk them neither can I!!! While you spend long days at work, your treasured pet will be doing more than staring at the window waiting for you to come home. I also work with difficult behavioral issues and correcting them through my re-socialization and retraining program. The bond between humans and canines can be the most rewarding experience of a lifetime... or the most stressful encounter ever. Frustration and overwhelming feelings take away the pleasure of owning and sharing your home with a canine pal. Whatever happened to the beautiful picture of an owner sharing a quiet evening walk on the beach with his furry friend? I can help you meet the goals and expectations you have with owning your pet. Let's rebuild that bond!! Meet us during our scheduled "Dog Days"! We offer weekend gatherings. Small Dog Play Days, Large Dog Training Sessions, Social Walks, "Stop Pulling" seminars in the park. Get in touch with us about when and where or feel free to suggest a gathering and we will make it happen. Pet sitting, dog walking, training, re bonding, socialization, conditioning, nanny day care, behavior consultation, nutritional plans, post surgical care and massage, veterinary transport, overnight stays, boarding, basic grooming, nail trims, yard clean-ups, all services include full time animal maintenance care. Cape Cod Canine currently provides service for animal companions in all Lower Cape towns. We are available 24 hrs, 7 days a week and Holidays too! We work every day in every kind of weather. Our focus is your comfort. Why worry while you aren't home? We love spoiled pets! Enjoy our Facebook Page and if you don't need a pet sitter, well then, you need a pet! Owned and operated by Mary M. Hannigan ("friend me" also on FB).

Mary does a great job! She comes when we need her and is always dependable. Our dog absolutely loves her and can't wait for her next visit. She takes him for nice long walks, not just around the block. I would highly recommend Mary to anyone who needs a dog walker.

Mary is excellent, she is reliable and super sweet. I love that she uses the "Path" app so I can see when she gets to my house, where she walks my "kids" and when she returns. I know she spends quality time with them!

Mary takes care of Buster, my cat, when I'm on vacation. She is very dependable and likeable. Buster also liked her immediately. I highly recommend her services.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

We work on proper socialization and behavior skills. We combine our daily visits with daily positive training and social behavior services. We most often have daily walks and visits to clients with additional training services during our walks. The common job is mid-day exercise routines for working owners. We take our clients canine companions to parks, lakes, trails, pet shops and boutiques and other exciting areas to socialize and "burn off energy" and "learn proper socialization skills" while owners are working at their own jobs. Dogs in our care have a full day of fun whether it is an hour, a half day or an afternoon of care with Pawfessionals.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

My best advice is to research the background of a animal care provider. There are plenty of "dog walkers" available and "trainers" on the market. It is very important that you hire a care taker and a trainer that has a lengthy background in behavior and animal care. Being raised with animals and having a love for animals is only the start of a successful animal care provider. When caring for animals in the owners' absence the service provider has an enormous responsibility not only to the animal but to the family who considers that pet as a "part of their family". Many occurrences will happen while exercising and playing, out for a walk or in training and the owner needs that confidence that the service provider knows how to address these issues on a day to day basis. We offer that comfort with 23 years of experience starting with the Animal Science program at University of Connecticut followed with raising and showing Bullmastiffs, Mastiff breed Rescue Rehabilitation, training and socialization of difficult dogs thru The Rescue Barn rescue program and a life in animal care. We use only positive reinforcement and communication skills to work with animals in our care. "Training" starts with communication. Bad behavior starts with body language. Correction starts with direction. Choosing a provider should be a process as difficult as choosing a caretaker for your own children. My best friends are the dogs I spend my days with.... yours!
