A little story about us. A few years ago our family volunteered to run the play at Tim’s elementary school. This was a first for us. Our son had developed a passion for Theater, and as all supportive parents do, we dove in head first. We quickly discovered that among all the challenges of producing an elementary schools play was being able to hear the kids on stage. After some research, we purchased some wireless microphones. With some borrowed mixers and cabling, and a few youtube videos, we put on one heck of a Wizard of Oz.
Fast forward several years, and many shows later, our family has decided to start D&T Stage. Our goal is to assist theater groups with all their technical needs, from sound and lighting to special effects.
Dan (the dad) has learned the ropes of setting up and running audio. For each play, a script is prepared and notated such that all parts have their microphones on at the right time. We strive to have each actor with a speaking part to be on microphone. We also will work with your videographer to patch sound to the video, which produces a much better video. Dan has done the audio on a volunteer basis for two Southington elementary schools for the past several years.
Tim (the son), although he did play a great Wizard in our Oz, found that his passion was lighting. Starting in our basement with an old laptop, he learned DMX lighting controls. Over time he has built an inventory of fixtures that can light any stage. He has done lighting for Southington High School Drama Club, Southington Summer Theater, JFK Middle School (Southington) Drama Club, Meriden Youth Theater, for four Southington Elementary schools.
We’ve also started building an inventory of special effects. Doing Frozen? We can bring the snow. Need some creepy low-lying fog? We built a dry ice fog machine. Need somethine else? We are always up for a challenge!
We understand that most small theater productions are run on a tight budget – been there, done that. We’ve seen other Elementary PTO’s pay thousands for tech, and get subpar production. Our goal is to provide your show a quality production at an affordable price. We approach each show as if it was our own.
So send me a message - We’d love to help!
